I voted Hera Mica, but some blues I prefer over either one: Avus, Snapper Rocks, Atlantis

Avus looks amazing in pictures, but when the first time I saw it in person it looked way too green.

If I were doing it again I'd do Velvet or Hera, but to cloud your decision here is a much much better picture of the LMB.

Funny you mention Rowan, because I had that picture up and removed it because it clouded the decision for me.

It looks so different from every other picture I've seen where it looks a lot more dark. I wasn't sure if that pic was edited or more true to what it actually looks like.

We actually met at that meet in Jersey a few years back, your car was stunning in person.

If you haven't seen Tanz in person I wouldn't worry if you like dark blue ... I had Jerez Black and have looked closely at Azurite Black and I would say those colors are black except in direct sunlight, but not tanzanite.

Tanz looks very dark blue in the shade and then bright blue in direct sun. It's much darker than the colors you're considering, but here are some examples from ED 2 weeks ago

This is what it looks like in indirect light

This is with BMW LEDs shining on it

This is in the dark shade through a reflective window, but you can see an overhead light reflecting off it

To my eye, tanz is dark blue at the darkest - if you like dark blue that flashes bright blue, Tanz is great

I love LeMans Blue. Had it on my E91 M-Sport. It's one of my favorite colors. But I would go with Hera Mica.

I like it more.

Honestly, if anything, it's a bit lighter than I would have preferred when ordering it. Thanks for the kind words - she's not sold yet, and still not put away for the winter - if you'd like another look, I'm sure we can work something out. OR - you can buy mine if you're not dead set on a new one and/or LMB isn't being approved any more.

I concur. You’re going to drop $5K for an individual paint color based on the opinion of strangers on the interweb? Most of whom haven’t seen some of these colors themselves in person? That’s crazy! Do your best to see the color you want in person before deciding. Color swatches doesn’t count either. See it on a car before deciding.

For example, I was dead set on Mineral White after looking at a ton of pics on this forum and reading owners opinions. At the dealership I compared Alpine White vs Mineral White and said f-that, I’m saving $550 and getting the better looking color. I’m happy with my choice but only because I saw it in person.

I had lemans blue on my e93 and I loved it. I was denied it on my M4. Before you pick a blue you need to have the dealer inquire which blues they will do. Just give them a list of the ones you want and see which one you can actually get approved. They will come back with ones they will do. The M4's are made in the Munich factory and at the time I ordered my M4 they still had old paint booths. BMW said the booths were due to be upgraded in 2017. Assuming that was done you may be able to get a wider choice of blues now including lemans.

Like GrussGott intimated, there is no way it looks that blue in real life in the shade, I've seen tanzanite in person, it looks almost black in the shade, hell, even in the sun in the places where the sun isn't hitting it it looks black.

Can't go wrong with either blue! I chose Avus for mine because I already had LeMans before, but it's gorgeous. Blue Hera I've only seen in pics but looks to be similar enough. As others stated, find out what your options actually are from BMW before agonizing over it too much!

To whoever said Avus was too green - um, what? no green at all in this color.

After seeing a Mexico blue f80 at the weekend, that’s the only blue I’d want. It was drop dead gorgeous!

Dark and fairly crappy pic... still looks mostly blue to me but I think its starting to get a little subjective.

Personally, I wanted black to begin with. This was a great way for me to dip my toe into another color without having to fully dive in. I'm happy.

Yeah, to my eye Tanz is a dark blue in shade, brightens up in the Sun, and flashes bright blue in direct reflections

I'd say this is it's "set point" in medium light, i.e., indirect day light, fairly similar to your pic
