I hear ya. Its a never ending conversation. At the end of the day no one was hurt, which is great. Things could have went completely different.

Indeed. Besides, kicking a man when he's down is not nearly as much fun as when you're on a max ego mode. I should know since I even kick my ego for a sport.

Pointing fingers straight away lost us a member with a story he could've told later with less excuses and owning up to it better. Next time let's wait until who ever fucked up is over it already.

Because he ended up getting a wrap so his car isn't SO anymore. That is what a friend of his told me.

Yeah, I wouldn't be above those either.

Still, stop being stubborn asses men. Its always your fault, in the car and at home.

Yes we are, in general, ridiculously stubborn, particularly where the ego has taken a little knock.

But Lups I do have to say, I was one of the first to sympathise (and there were quite a few of us fessing up) with that poor bugger and add in my own anecdotes about a) crashing into a lamp-post in a supermarket car-park in front of lots of people at age 16 and b) rolling and writing-off Dad's company car at age 15.

This whole modern-day internet-video-humiliate-and-hate thing repulses me, and it's propagated by the mass media. There were some very ugly comments by very ugly people after he posted. I am absolutely not surprised the poor guy got defensive.

Sorry to have a rant at the tail end of this thread!

Haha, women are not one bit better but we get to say that too is your fault.

I agree with your post completely. It is not a pretty sight when we gang up on someone, even if there is cause for nasty comments.

We need more attitude such as yours and less kicking others when they are down already. In a year that story would've been considered funny and educational: The man driving would've told his friends over a beer that oh boy, the one time I showed off, this happened. Now we will have really hard time getting any good stories out we all try to be very, very perfect.

Edit: How the hell did I manage make this look like that?!

This forum isn't so bad. Just need thick skin. Just ignore a thread if it turns against you. Once you get defensive, it feeds the monster. A few years ago there was an epic thread about a botched ED where BMW messed up the forum members exterior paint color. Obviously the op was upset, but the forum monster could not be appeased. He was getting crushed for being "too upset". Eventually BMW stepped up and replaced the car, but it took some time as he had an end of model run M3 and individual interior.
God, I remember the Atlantis/Atlantic Blue fiasco. I still can't get over how many people were telling him to man up and how, "it's not a big deal, it's just a color." He had every right to be pissed seeing as how he did everything right and it was 100% BMW's fault.
If I remember correctly, BMW fixed the exterior color pretty quickly. The issue was that they could not get his individual leather STITCHING the color he wanted because the supplier of those seats had already ended production.

The guy was going off the deep end over the stitching color even after BMW did everything in their power to fix the issue.

He was a little histrionic, but he's supposed to be passionate on this forum. BMW completely screwed up and even I know that was a lame excuse for not being able to get the interior. The supplier would have just finished their production within weeks. Since they eventually got the stitching done, it was clearly within their power. Now was the OP a rigid in his stance and I would have had them just pull the seats and console to put in another M3.

My main point was, this forum seemed to immediately turn on him. The same forum where people bitch and moan about every small imperfection in their car.

Just expected more empathy for him.

In the spirit of this thread. I would like to apologize for my part in the

I would also like to see a proper discussion about how to repair the damage to that car.

I remember that thread. The people in it were complete a**holes. I mean, really, can you imagine ordering a car via ED, waiting for it, flying to Germany to use it on vacation, only to find out it was the WRONG COLOR. All those schmucks who made fun of him would have been 100% just as pissed.

Yup. That's what shocked me most. This forum has some of the most anal retentive car owners everywhere, but they acted like the guy (who spent 4 years deciding on this color combo) should just take it on the chin. Yes he was a little over the top, but this whole forum can be over the top.

Atlantis Blue vs. Atlantic Blue vs. Atlanta Blue.

BMW and Porsche are just asking for trouble...
