WOW Software Upgrade Kills F80 Performance

So to start I have a 16 F80 M3 with 15K. I had installed a BMW M performance diffuser on the rear and with dumb luck it continuously released my trunk with the auto kick feature.

So I took it to my dealer which is awesome by the way and they had reprogramed the car to delete the system that controls the auto kick feature.

They were successful turning it off but now the car runs like crap. I am noticing the following:

* Short startup cycle 15 seconds (before the care on initial start up would run high RPM for 30 seconds)

* Exhaust note is muted in comfort and sport (less gurgles and pops too)

* Throttle response is poor in comfort and sport (Low RPM is sluggish, does not have the snap it used too)

* High RPM is sluggish as well (car does not pass well (I have a DCT) it struggles to downshift to hit the mark)

I am going back in for a full reprogram on Wed and I was curious if anyone else has had this issue?

I don't think you can go backwards if they updated your software. The newest sw update does change the power delivery somewhat, less wheel spin and better control seems to be what most get.

Maybe they can...though when I had my e92 n54 software updated do to problems with HPFP issues and experienced a lack of performance from the original sw, they told me I could not go back, but for me the update was manditory, maybe for you as you asked for a reset they might be able to go back. For me, the new sw had robbed so much of the life out of my car, I ended up going to a flash and was ultimately even more happier. But in our case re the s55, we don't yet have that easy access to flashing unless we go piggyback. Good luck, as I know when it happened to me it sucked!

Is that true or are you being facetious? Is the power delivery of the comp pkg that much different from the non-comp pkg?

It's a joke, note the emoji. Sorry to have mislead you. I have no idea on the power delivery re the compkg sw. But I have experienced newer sw from BMW that delivers power differently than what came in the original OEM version. Some like the changes, some don't, as you have no doubt read here on the forum.

Gotcha, figured you were kidding but wanted to make sure. I have read some accounts from people before/after but since I've never experienced the original way the F8x was tuned, I don't have any first-hand experience. I did also read threads where people complained about how much the traction control would kick in in original versions. I guess you can't please everyone.

Something I did notice in my car is that when cruising in higher gears like 6 or 7, I have to downshift if I want to overtake a car quickly. I think I saw someone complain about that after getting a SW update.

***UPDATE***

So I took my car in and they reprogramed the car and oddly enough the power is back (actually a little better than before) but the start up is still not as robust and the exhaust note has recovered a but not 100% where it was before.

Overall I can live with it! Performance was the real kick in the pants.

In the competition package, the power delivery is more linear and less sudden and in your face like in the non-competition package. Speaking from experience as I've owned both.

I like it more in the competition package as you feel you are a bit more in control rather than having no power then when you floor it, after the initial turbo lag, you get all the power in your face and probably more traction issues. I do notice the traction control lights way less in the competition package, maybe it's the fact that my non competition M4 had Continentals and now I have the 20 inch MPSS or maybe it is the power delivery, but it's better IMHO
