honestly, I find it douchier to wear the gear if you DO own the car (no matter what the brand... BMW, Porsche, Ferrari). cause then it makes it seem like you're reminding everyone what car you have. it's still douchey if you don't own the car but do wear the gear, because then you're just saying you're an enthusiast, but still not quite as bad. I steer clear of it, altogether, but that's just me, and I don't mean to offend all those who do wear this stuff.

one possible exception is an understated Martini racing hat or something like that, since only enthusiasts recognize it for what it is, and it's sufficiently esoteric.

I agree with you completely but I'm still going to go ask about the ///M condoms. I doubt there is a section on the forum where one would post the test drive experience though.

I agree. I have more M gear than I care to admit and I do find that sometimes its too much of a "humble brag" that you drive a M car so I only wear it for car or BMW related events.

From head to toe, I have ///M hats, jackets, t-shirts, polo shirts, wallet, and shoes. I also have keychains, a computer bag (won in a raffle), backpack, gym bags, duffel bags, valve stem caps, race track credential leashes, pens, and probably some other stuff that I forgot. The clothing I mostly wear to BMW- or car-related events, i.e., local club events, track events, Oktoberfest, etc., but I'll wear it for other things too.

Oh yeah, I've also got a car with three ///M emblems on the body (and it came that way from the factory). It's even got an ///M embossed into the headrests.

I really don't give a shit if someone thinks this is douchey or not.

Who can find that thread where the guy had some printer make him a custom M Polo shirt that "we could not buy, because it's not available to the public"?

It looked like something my 4 year old daughter would make at a summer camp.

Car brands better give me an extra big rebate on a car if I'm gonna advertise them for free on my body...

I would argue that only enthusiasts recognize the ///M badge for what it is as well. To most non-enthusiasts, it could mean anything... a hockey stick manufacture's logo for example. The roundel is another story.

I love the fact that BMW has its own version of "Corvette Guy" and they don't care what anyone thinks. I'm the opposite. I don't want people to know what I drive because I don't like the stigma that comes with owning an enthusiast car. I let them find out naturally and then I get the exception.
