Red C.F. Start/Stop Button

Hey,

I just saw this thread!

Oh, To You haters out there...

_ * "gonna look like butt..."
_ * "...kinda cheap"
_ * "doesn't look authentic..."?!?
_ * "Rice" (Low Price, Asian, Wanna be???)

Mine is a $90k+ German Dream Car. I tried not to dilute it with a bunch
of slapped on, cheap ass / serve no puropse mod's.

This was as close to that line as I got and I think it looks, Damn Fine!

Hell, I refused to accept the C.F. Mirror covers from "Individual" because
they are now, "Made in China" yet, they won't charge you as if these are,
"Made in China."

Everything I bought for my car is either made on the European Continent
or Made in USA except for the (CTek & Smart Top) electronics but, that's
just me, I guess!

Yet...

_ * "Here ya go!..."

China / $40.00 - "Yeah! I'll put that on my car!!" - In a minute.

Your all hypocrites!

Cheers!

$300 USD for a small piece of plastic? what is the world coming to?

Like I asked BMW Dubai how much is the touch screen variant of the iDrive screen that we have in case I wanted to order it and they quoted me $4000 USD

Do you think the stock button is hand crafted in the mountains of Bavaria? If it's something large on the car, I agree with your sentiment. But this is a button, and it looks more OEM than that atrocious ruby red carbon fiber. Get off your high horse.

Hey,

It's not just, "a button". It's not a very complex piece but, it's the ignition actuator
unit - Part #61319250734.

The button isn't just painted. You get a whole new and complete part.

This definitely doesn't look "OEM". As I wrote, I may have crossed the line here but,
if so, it was my line to cross and I feel this is what "OEM" should have looked like.

I like my, "High Horse". It cost me a whole hell of a lot to be able to ride it. I think
I'll stay on top of the saddle for a bit longer.

Oh! By the way, this is finished, by hand, in Belgium.

Cheers!

Who knows - someone always has to dog-bark. To be fair - we have no way of knowing if it'll hold up to abuse long term, but I have no reason to believe that it won't. Worst case the black button goes back and we are all out a whopping $42.

"OEM" - Because it's Not how it came from the production line and/or a part
not manufactured by BMW or a specifically authorized BMW sub contractor.

Now, this is not necessarily good nor bad. Depends on the specifics of the part,
your knowledge thereof and what you are happy with.

Cheers!

Well, OEM doesn't necessarily stand up long term either:

^^ EXACTLY ^^

I remember my start button on E92 lasted around 40k miles before the paint wore off both the face of the button & the ring surround

I'll be happy if this one lasts the same

Never mind.

2 90° picks did the trick.

I couldn?t see the tabs at first.

Look down inside the white button retainer from backside after you have taken the switch apart - a little down inside on both sides about 180 deg from one another you can see the tabs for the black button locked on the white retainer.

Get (2) jeweler screwdriver - pry out the one side, & while holding it out, pry out the other side - BAM button falls out

EZ to see what tabs you are looking for by looking at the tabs on the new red button that have the tiny square cutouts near the end
