Agreed. Not enough to justify this car over a base car either.

The m4's are becoming quite pricey in Canada. $120-130K is steep, the gts can be had for 160-175K now and will probable dip a little lower for the short term.

I will keep my M4 and with the mods it probably isn't any worse than the new CS,I have also gone a different direction for another overpriced purchase, the Dodge Demon. optioned nicely $118K plus tax. Absolutely crazy but I have to give it a try.

Yes, can not argue with that. Its progress, and Its jolly god we have It.(that 991.2 GTS)
But In the end Its not about that magazine, It what them( we) owners do on track. I got a few friends driving them 991.2 GTS cars and they are not faster than me In M4 GTS, still they are In superior cars right (Also they are on CUP2 tires on their 991.2 GTS)

These things matter alot more than most on this site seems to understand. Anybody who drive alot on track and who Is used to datalogging will understand this Instant. Hence Its a reminder to also think of..the M4 CS would be much faster at hockenheim than 1.11. Much faster....but now Its like the CS Is only 1.11 what ever... Time fly by and later on this 1.11 will stick as the M4 reference time, but thats wrong as It was crap conditions for It but nobody will Remember later on. Anyway M4 CS Is a faster car here, It should sit maximum 1 seconds or even slightly less than 1 second vs M4 GTS here. M4 GTS had optimal temp driving hockenheim but CS far from.

Factory always test all cars at low optimal 12 degrees, then Its 7 seconds diff M4 CS vs M4 GTS on Nurburgring. I am pretty confident If M4 CS vs M4 GTS test same day cool temp on hockenheim Its should be like 1 sec difference between them cars or even slightly less on this short track.

Its just the same with M4 GTS sport auto ring lap at 7.37, It was driven 30 degrees and tarmac very hot, Its way off and M4 GTS at better temp will easy cut a few seconds If cooler temp out. But now It stick like glue M4 GTS only lap 7.37min sport auto test, but nobody know sport auto mention car did suffer bad due to termal load( very hot)
Its the same with M4 CS, It did suffer bad due to same termal load as very very hot driving conditions. Like Mallorca hot. Just a reminder...

That why one need to pay attention to what temp they drive, sure same driver and thats as god as It gets, but If he drive one day ar 35 degrees Mallorca style and the next day 12 degrees out and cool tarmac, thats several seconds on the ring and at least 1 at a shorter track.

Could also mention 992.2 GT3 PDK vs 991.2 GTS PDK, that new GT3 is a faster car vs GTS Porsche. But, sport auto test them different days(factory never do this, they do same conditions) and 991.2 GTS was only 1 tenths slower than 991.2 GT3 on hockenheim!! Now people In general never pay attention to details, and If the did they would know 991.2 GT3 did suffer bad due to very hot conditions, and 991.2 GTS super sweetspoot conditions.

The GT3 is a faster car, the guys In suits well dressed (boss guys) did decide that It should be a long time ago. And when Porsche factory lap them GT3 is faster as they drive cars same conditions../ same day.
991.2 GT3 1.07.9min vs 991.2 GTS 1.08.0 is just coincidence..

And lets not forget, even If a M4 CS and 991.2 GTS type of cars are wicked fast one lap, they will never be as consistent and sustainable as the typ GT3 / M4 GTS type of cars on track. But they do other things better, drive to Wallmart 4 persons type of thing. All god cars
You've got to be kidding me. I've been further even more decided to use even go need to do look more as anyone can. Can you really be far even as decided half as much to use go wish for that? My guess is that when one really been far even as decided once to use even go want, it is then that he has really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like. It's just common sense.

Just watched it. The 911 won. Jason Cammisa made a guest appearance to complain about the M4. Johnny Lieberman practiced his German accent a lot and said he would rather have a Camaro SS 1LE.

Just kidding. They were really gushing over the Porsche though. Seems like it's the ideal daily driver 911.

Why don't they compare the M4 CS to... a decently equipped 718S Cayman or, at most, a completely stripped base 911?

Ah yes it's because the CS is 'sporty' so it has to be compared to the 'sporty' 911! Total bullsh!t!
Same as the GTS being compared to the GT3 RS. In reality, it should be compared to a GTS or maybe a base GT3. Never a GT3 RS that goes for 300-400k

^ This is a good point.

The M3 has traditionally always been compared to the 911. Which was quite flattering considering that the M3 could almost match the 911 performance while being a little less expensive and way more practical. I guess this is why reviewers keep comparing the M4 variants to 911 variants.

The 911 seems to have moved significantly up-market in terms of performance and price (in Canada, a bare bone base 911 starts at $104k, which is the price of a rather loaded M4) . It is therefore more appropriate to compare the M4 with the Cayman, which now seems to be more in the M4's price and performance category.

But it is still interesting to see how an M4 stacks up against the venerable 911

BMW markets the GTS and CS as 'track day' specials. Here's the thing. The GT3 was 3 years old by the time the M4 GTS came out, yet it was still the better car in any scenario, and facet of performance and handling. Now since they did a light refresh on the 991.2 GT3, the M4 GTS is left in the dust even more than the .13RS did. The 911 GTS slaughters the M4 GTS, and 911 S (on summer tires too) still beats it. Add cup tires to the S and it more easily beats the M4 GTS. I'd bet a 991.2 base on cups would be an equivalent performer to the m4 GTS or damn close for about 30-40K less.

Track days? You mean HPDE events? Very big difference there. If you're not competing for money, fame and trophies it's not the real thing or anything close and not even remotely indicative of true racing.

You're simply referring to a better driver in a less capable car.

According to their graphic, base price is only $11k difference? Seems reasonable that people would cross shop these 2 imo
