Insideline 2014 M3 renders and speculations

Engine will not be a twin turbo inline-6. It will now be a highly advanced 3.0 liter twin-turbo V6!

This looks like a photoshopped version using current M3 as the base...Is this the official M3/4 picture?

V6 3.0 TT 429hp/400lb torque... costing at somewhere between 65K ~ 75K after options

versus Inline-6 F30 335i 300hp/300lb torque... costing at 40~50K equipped

I hear a deadly debate F30 335i modded vs F80 M3....it'll surely be worse than E90 M3 vs E90 335i...

Over 400 lb/ft of torque?!?

I'm keeping my E90 M until the 2nd-3rd production year of the new M3, and going for the new one!!

Yup! I was shocked as well when I read that.

I guess the 2014 M3 will have over 400 lb/ft of torque .c

So Edmunds takes an E92 M3 body and pairs it with an F30 front and calls it the 2014 M3? It just goes to show their lazy effort into reporting anything 'newsworthy.' I also don't believe it's resistance from M division, as they said they'll put an 'M' in front whatever the M version of the series production they are producing for consistency, but more so resistance from the BMW board to call the coupe an 'M4' due to the history associated with the 'M3' label. Hopefully their lack of effort is also reflective of their hypothesis regarding a 3.0 liter V6. This further strays from the rumored logic of it being a 3.3l V6 derived from the S63. It does not make any financial sense for M or BMW as a whole to make a bespoke engine for the M3. The M3 is special, but even in BMW's eyes, it does not warrant the excessive resources for R&D.

I can handle the coupe being renamed 'M4,' but I might just have to look at other options in the future (M5/M6, Porsche (991) 911 GT3) should M division make the sacrilegious decision to put a V6 in the M3/M4. It's either I6 or die 6.

As you know, I was in early March in Garching visiting the M-GmbH.
At that time I also said that I give the details any further, I have received.

But this much I can say:
Much of the article actually corresponds to reality!

The rendering is nicely done.
But there is an E92-M3, were simply tinkered at the front and rear of the F30.
This has to do with the F82 but nothing ...

I'm guessing the rear end is pretty similar, there were some good rendering done by amatuers that were similar to this.

I think that basically the rear will resemble the new M5 rear look, the Front will be most likely a beefed up version of F30 335i M sport.

Nothing is true in the report except that is it a V6, but a 3.3l.

335i vs. M3 will again be a funny debate, but this time the 335i has ZERO chance. Yes the 335i can get more power, but not rev till 7.500 RPM and not with M3 realiability. The 335i will maybe get +400 PS with mods, but the M3 will get +500 PS with mods. Again yes, the 335i can get more power, but it cannot lose more weight. 335i = Game Over.

If you want to buy a petrole 3 Series, you have not much choice: 328i or M3. All the rest is neither this nor that.

There is evidence out there to support the new look of the Coupe , it is not a 2dr Sedan. The roofline is clearly evident in the spy photographs showing something that is sleek and more dynamic in profile.
Because of the highly charged designation new direction which you will hear more about soon. It is designed to reflect that , although it keeps that family bloodline , the appearance somewhat differs.

I know where your sig is from!

I remember watching a traffic cops show a few months ago and that guy reversed right over the police. They were in a E60 530d (their most common car over here). Anyway, he got caught using his phone while driving and instead of pulling over he drove over their car a few times. The damage was so bad that had the hood not folded back over the windscreen the car would have went right through the glass and killed those cops.

Lol just thought I'd share that random story with you.

I certainly hope their weight predictions are not true. I was hoping for a 10% reduction in weight, not a paltry 75 pounds. On the other hand, a reduction of 134 pounds of unsprung weight with the carbon ceramic brakes, as the same article claims, sounds aggressive.

Looks like the e9x. Not worth getting a new one if it's that similar.
