Dropped something behind the grille and it disappeared!
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com At gas station, i saw a dead bird behind front grilled. Found a small ruler in the glove box and tried to poke it closer so i can grab it. Long story shorts, somehow I dropped the ruler inside and it's disappeared. Drove home and took a grille off and inspected. Couldn't find it. Where can it be? PS. Lesson learnt : use the right tool in the right job and in the right hand |

Maybe it's on the road between the gas station and your house?

Can you hear it rattling? Does it smell like burnt plastic after a long drive?
If not, buy a new ruler and move on.

I did remove the bird.
No rattle and no ruler on road. I drove to store in gas station before leaving and hoped it might be on the way somehow then walked around the area but no luck. Better if i smell the burt plastic before it break the car |

Hi there! After some time do you encounter any problem? I have the same issue just now. I tried to change the front grille and left a small L-shaped torx key there. The key just dropped in right behind the bumper, as shown.. Also paranoid now.. |

Since it is in very front end, it's hard to hear or smell anything during the drive |

The plastic cover on the underside of the front bumper is relatively easy to remove with a small hex wrench. I'm sure it's caught just above it since it's the closest thing to catch it at the base of the grille. The metal cover previously mentioned sits too far back to have contained it.
