Hopefully this one will not be priced with a GT3 RS. I think a plain jane striper model with more aluminum parts at a reasonable up charge would be more of a hot seller like E36 Lightweight

There's our 3300 lbs US curb weight car. Now we just need an M3 version with the rear seats in place. And drop the turbos, bore it to 3.5 liters and let it run to 9000 rpm and we have a dream sedan.

in 3 years b4 the reality of it...
weighs 3300 lbs has a 7-spd mt auto blip manual has B&O sound system Pessimism is strong but a true ACTUAL lightweight M3 with a 6 spd no auto blip will be a dream come true. I dont know why they make so many editions but REFUSE to make one that is actually hard core. We'll see <3 |

Sounds like it would cost $88k. Think Cayman R pricing. Might not have AC. Lightweight battery.

If they do a manual gearbox, they should make it a sequential.

It will likely cost more than the gts, but im very happy to hear it will be only with MT. Also hoping most of the lightweight "parts" will be available on any m3/m4

I can't see BMW paying the DOT costs to bring this to the US. Not great shame either, as it'll likely be at a GTS type price and marketed as exclusive in litmited numbers, rather than a more affordable base car with weight stripped.

Neat car, even if it does not make it to the US it enhances the halo.

Will never make it to the states.
But rest assured, BMW wont forget about its US market. We will get limited edition special stitching and some new cutting edge stickers to put on our cars. Just as good imo. |

No way they would do a manual only. Both the CSL and GTS were SMG/DCT. Either way it would be awesome to see a hard core version. Like usual it probably won't make it to the states.
