I've got a rental chevy camaro SS convert at the moment. Really makes you appreciate our cars. There's so much good about the camaro, but it doesn't come together as a driving experience. The engine is AMAZING.....but stifled by connecting it to a crappy auto trans and a poor throttle control. The chassis is surreal for a convertible, but sapped by carrying so much weight.
/End rant Going to try to test drive an rs3 tomorrow. |

The A8 is actually quite nice when you row your own gears... The downshifts are a bit sluggish, though.

Corvette is a front mid engine RWD (FMR) car, like the Ferrari Superfast 812, or the AMG GT R , or the S2000, vs Front engined RWD (FR) like the 3 series, and the A3 (Front engine AWD, or front wheel drive)

By the pure definition, the center of gravity of the engine needs to be located between the two axles to be considered a "mid-engine", so the 3/4-series is a front-mid engine car too. The RS3 however, is not. The fact that the Corvette has a rear mounted transaxle transmission helps shift the weight towards the rear.

49.3/50.7. Seriously, what is that 35 lbs in favor of the rear? Who's really the one splitting hairs here?

Not just to get lap times but to see which ones do/don't overheat (and which parts) and how hard they are on consumables. I really appreciate all of your beta testing these cars so later adopters like me can make better choices |

I would be interested to try the RS3 and see how it feels bc based on looks, it's much much better to look at than the S4 and overall a more special package. the increased space for me is a selling point since I have munchkins who occasionally like to take a break from being chauffeured around in the SUV. Ultimately though, I want to get the M3 back which is my CLEAR winner between the two unless all wheel drive would be needed or at least very helpful for winter driving.

I drove an RS3 yesterday evening the 367hp model with down pipes and a map so around 430-450hp, bloody hell the launch control was brutal, it really shocked me the way it exploded off the line.
I found it to be an absolute riot to drive, very impressive, sounded really rude as well!

I own a Golf R and was looking to replace it. Drove 2 different RS3 versions and two different M3 versions. Before test driving, I was very sure I would buy the Audi. I like to drag race, and as some have already noted, a simple firmware tune makes it a rocket (mid 11 second quarter miles). Though I liked the Virtual Cockpit and the engine sound, I was disappointed by the lack of power seats, the lack of Homelink and the very tight interior. I was also put off the the price, nearly $70K to get 'the works'. I also drove two C63 versions. Loved the engine sound and creature comforts, but found the ride harsher than the M, the tranny too jerky and the price too high. In the end I chose the M3. More spacious, more luxurious and better looking inside and out (my opinion) than the Audi, and a better drive than the AMG. It will be harder to launch at the strip than the Golf or Audi, but hopefully still fast and rewarding. If not, it's still one of the most amazing daily drivers on the planet.

After shopping for a new car and test driving the new models here is the short of it
2018 Audi RS3- Looks like a toy. sounds great 2018 Audi TT-RS- Mehh for 70k+. sounds great 2018 Mercedes Benz C63S Coupe- It was a maybe but just couldn't do it. At the end of the day I ended up with another new 2018 M3. It's embarrassing to say that this is my 3rd F80 and 5th M3. |

Great color and the right choice among those you tested.............. (perhaps the C63 would suffice) but good lord I hate hate hate those wheels. Look like they were designed by Pep Boys. I would have to immediately switch them out.

I was also looking at the RS3 before pulling M trigger... one thing that was hard to get over, is it really is a wolf in A3 clothes...and IMO the A3 looks like a toy car- not my style.

If you are looking to lease, then the RS3 is not the car to get. Tossed around some numbers with the dealer last week and it was going to cost me ~400 more per month than my F80.
