Surprised there are no piggybacks on the market yet. The S3/Golf R had a ton of piggyback options. Loved my JB1 on the S3. My F80's did not need a tune..had way too many traction issues stock.

wanted to update on ride quality. Spirited driving and a rough road, the tt rs is head and shoulders better then my 2015 m4. this one road I have fun on is a mess and once the m4 loses composure, you need to catch it. today, it was 40 degrees and raining and I still went for a ride in the rs and it crushed that road. never once got unsettled. I know the comp package addressed this issue but in my 2015, its the one major issue i have with the m4

Really like the new TT-RS - love the looks and sound from pics/videos, but haven't been lucky enough to see or hear one in person yet.
For those who have one, what do you think about the "chick car" persona the earlier versions couldn't seem to shake off? Anyone still think that applies? Just honestly curious....

To a non-enthusaist, which is most people, the two are one and the same. Even when it comes to many non-German car enthusiasts, they either don't distinguish the two or genuinely just aren't educated about the RS or even the S model.
Not that I am saying that the whole "chick car" stigma should be legitimized by pandering to it and avoiding what is objectively a great car, but the fact of the matter is that it is real and for some people that's a consideration to weigh when choosing a vehicle. The point being, insofar as we acknowledge the existence of the label, its worth it to me to be honest about the fact that most laymen and even some "car guy" peers are going to apply it to even the RS model. I am not too altruistic to admit that, for example, I'd be extremely unlikely to drive a VW Beetle, even if there were a 400hp+ model that got rave reviews as a performance automobile, due to the stigma it carries. Even a Miata - while a car I'd have no problem owning as a track rat - is not a car I'd choose to drive as a means of daily transportation. There are plenty of other examples as I'm sure you could agree. That being said, would I drive a TT RS? Possibly. I can tell you for sure I'd drive an RS3 which I've seen called out as a chick car before due to its association with the A3, and presumably by extension, the Jetta (even though the two do not currently share a platform), including on these forums. |

This whole "chick car" mentality comes from guy's who are clearly compensating for their... "large" penis Car's that perform well are the ones that appeal to me.
I owned a bright yellow Hellcat Challenger... I felt like I was compensating for something. It's definitely a "manly" car, if there is such a thing. I felt awkward driving it, if I could be quite honest. I felt that my bright, Austin Yellow and Atlantis Metallic F80 was definitely a bit pretentious. It gave the "cocky","douchebag" vibe. I love my flashy colors, but I am not talking about colors here. I am talking about a "fancy", "loud" Bimmer driver. In my Focus RS, I feel like a 18-20 year-old punk kid, "boy racer" in a way. It's a white hatchback, but I still feel like a immature hooligan driving it around. In the bright yellow TTRS, I do not feel like I am being pretentious or being "that guy" in his fancy car. Audi's don't tend to have that kind of "image". I do feel like more women look and admire the TTRS than the Hellcat or F80...those two were dick magnets All cars have their stereotypes and people have various perceptions of different cars. As of right now, I am currently enjoying the hell out of my "girly", yellow Go-Kart, that does 0-60 in less 3.5 seconds while sounding and looking like a mini-R8

I wasn’t asking from the “compensating for something” aspect.
I had two Jetta GLIs, and two 135s, which were definitely considered chick cars - but that didn’t bother me because I liked the cars and the packages they each delivered. I was just curious to hear from those that have the TT-RS if they ever felt the car elicited similar feelings.

gotta say, been driving the ttrs for a couple weeks, it is a chick car. Ive had a wide range of cars over the years, I can count on one hand the number of times my cars peeked the interest of the opposite sex. in a few weeks, more women have approached me asking about the car or to say nice car, its like a puppy. who knew. wife loves it!!

Drove one for the first time a few days ago. Great car, lots to like. It is a proper beast on the streets. The size, power, and approachability make it nearly untouchable. And anything shy of a 911 Turbo could just about forget hanging with one in the real world. Rode surprising well, interior was fantastic, sound was good, although not great.
For a fun, nearly do-it-all daily, it'd be very hard to beat. As a toy, I couldn't justify it. It's not as fun, exciting, involving, or pure as a 75-80K Cayman S, GT350R, C7 Grand Sport, etc. And it's not 2x as good as a Golf R, either. Still a badass little car, and anyone who has one has to be enjoying it. |

I can tell you that just flooring it from a dead stop it’s still after to 60 than the F8x was without using LC. Cars a rocket in the lower gears. I think the M pulls it after 100MPH. Still waiting for one of my buddies to get his F80 DCT/ZCP so we can do some pulls. From a dig, nothing is touching this TTRS. Stupid fast.

The TT-RS is probably even faster than that since C&D managed a 3.5 0-60mph with the heavier RS3. And it can do it easily and consistently. On the other hand, you need ideal conditions and a perfect launch to achieve 3.7~3.8 with an M4 coupe, not easily achievable in the real world. From a dig, the F8X will not be able to hang with a TT-RS.

You're getting me really excited man. The o-60 KM/h is one of the most important metric for me when it comes to the fun aspect of the car. I couldn't care less if the M4 does better from a 100 MPH because...well...radars.... For me the most fun I get is when you're thrown back in your seat after accelerating hard from a stand still.....not that the M4 doesn't do that, but perhaps not enough

The 0-60 blasts or the 20-70 blasts here and there are way more fun! Plus the shock on people’s faces when their fast, RWD cars get destroyed is priceless. For a super fast DAILY(not a track car) this thing cannot be touched. Love it!!

Agreed! It would kill a muscle car owner inside, knowing his Camaro just lost to a “hairdressers” car.
On a side note - chicks dig this car and always compliment it, no complaints there haha! The F80’s and Hellcat were dick magnets!
