Nailed it. I was kinda surprised it wasn't standard as well. I remember when ca was a standalone option and they added it into the premium package to make it more exciting for buyers. I think it should be standard or at the very least standalone like back in the day

Because some of us risked our lives for about $20k a year. I believe this was my pay in 1996 when I was 18.

Vets deserve this and much more.
Thanks to my GI bill and hard work life is very good.

No adaptive M suspension?

My build came out:

M4: $64,200
Executive: $3900
Lighting: $1,900
19" black wheels: $1,200
HK: $875
Adaptive M suspension: $1,000
Destination: $850
Total= $73,925
7% ED Discount= $68,750

Now how much will a clear bra/paint protector cost ?
Did you forgot taxes?

In my state, adding taxes to this config will push the price close to $73K again ... $$$$

What's the difference between Standard Feature: Hands-Free Bluetooth, USB Connection and Factory Installed Option: Enhanced USB Bluetooth/Smartphone Int. for $350? The (i)Phone connector?

Cool stuff, great post.

I love this car, but hate the stupid packages that bundle a bunch of stuff I don't want at all like a back up camera and pdc with comfort access and Sirius. And making nav standard is equally stupid. Make it an option and drop the base. Most of us can get along just fine without nav and parking cameras. Parking cameras, really?! It's a (somewhat) compact sedan, not a motor home!

Doesn't matter, I'm too cheap for a new car and will have to buy one of these gems used a couple yr from now.

Anyone know if these wheels will make production? http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=824854

Voluntarily. They give you more because it's political suicide to have a draft.

I spec'd my m3 at just under 65k and it has a ton of features. I don't need 184734 different cameras and radar cruise control in this car. if you keep that stuff off, the price stays low.
Well, of course, but I'm just making a point that this car has become pretty pricey.
Feels like they're offering more options- not making the car materially more expensive. If BMW had purposeful de-contented the car, raised the base price and made heated seats and NAV expensive options, you'd have a point. But they didn't.

Also- The comparison to Porsche isn't exactly fair as you'd have to tick a few boxes to get a car with many of the now standard features on the M.

I don't know the exact answer - but I'm guessing the large US garrison in West Germany that kept out the USSR and enabled BMW to become the company it is today has something to do with it.

Whatever their reason- I'm happy to subsidize M-cars for those willing to risk their lives to protect ours.

Out of all the things you listed you don't want (backup cameras, pdc, comfort access, Sirius) don't come with the car. So what's the big deal here?

The only thing you have included is the NAV.
