6 speed 1/4 mile times?

Took my car to track for the first time today. Not a huge fan of drag racing these cars but my dad was taking his pro street so figured I'd tag along. Best time of 3 runs was 12.1 @ 115 with a 1.8 60. Other 2 were 12.2s with 1.9 60s. Car is 2015 all stock.

Wow that's pretty good for a 6MT stock. I haven't taken my car yet but I can't see cutting a 1.8x or 1.9x 60' time. I find this car very hard to get a clean launch.

What was the elevation and temp's? Trap speed seems a bit slow (by 2-4 mph) and 6MT should have little to do with that..

Not sure what you mean by that. 6MT are known to trap 2-4 mph slower than DCT.

It all has to with how much average power is put down during the entire žmile pull. Since 6MT will have three 0.3-0.4 second interruption of power during each upshift while the DCT does not, means the 6MT will put down less average power.

I have some experience launching turbo cars. The last time I went drag racing was in my 530whp gutted Ti which unfortunately I don't have anymore but if you could get out of the hole in that you could get out in just about anything. It was 66 degrees and elevation is just over 500 ft. I was at island dragway in Independence, NJ. Probably won't ever drag the car again id much rather take the car to NJMP for some real driving.

Is it? I was going by past experience with the E46 gen where the SMG would trap about the same as 6MT, even though the SMG would have a better ET, mostly due to the launch technology of the SMG and assuming a well shifted 6MT.. I know SMG and DCT are not the same... If DCT is overall that much better.. happy to be proven wrong!

SMG is a single clutch unit and suffers the same interruption in power during a shift than a 6MT. The main benefit of DCT, is that there is no interruption in power delivery during the shift. In the more aggressive settings, there is even a surge of acceleration as the DCT recuperates the inertia of the engine RPM drop.

It is also important to note that a DCT does not launch any better than a 6MT. While it might be easier to consistently get a good launch with DCT, a well executed launch on a 6MT will be just as fast as a DCT. If you look at test numbers, you'll find that DCT and 6MT 0-30mph numbers are pretty much the same. It is during each upshift that the DCT gains on the 6MT.
