Newbie to the M3 scene. Help needed!

Helloo all,

I have just put a deposit down on an M3 Competition pack. I need to firstly sort out insurance for it now. It's coming up ridiculously expensive on search engines. Are there any specialist insurers you guys use. I'm coming from a 335d xdrive so it's always been pretty steep but never knew it to be this much. Also what trackers are available and do they affect the premium very much it is it minimal?

Thanks in advance

I insure with Aviva they are pretty good, costs around £600 per year and that's with a BD postcode so similar to having a B postcode in terms of risk I would imagine, if not in Birmingham and in Shropshire/Hereford etc...I would expect it to be quite cheap unless you're young.

And they don't require a tracker, be careful with the valuation you put in, put the price you paid not the retail otherwise you're paying for fresh air and probably jumping up a risk level.

(not saying you under value the car but be sensible)

Yes absolutely overvaluing the car is a waste of money. I remember last year when my 335d came up for renewal. Aviva don't come up under search engines so I'll give them a try.

Just by chance has anybody got this tracker?

https://www.trackerfit.co.uk/bmw-rac-trackstar-tm450.html

If so any good?

My postcode is WV and I'm not what the deal is here as never compared to other areas.

Trackers are a wast of money and can be over ridden in one minute flat.
LV no longer required me to have a tracker on my new 2017 M3 CP, however I live in a low risk post code.
You should have checked insurance prices BEFORE putting a deposit down.
If you need one it will negate any drop in insurance quotes, trackers cost serious money and require an annual fee.

Try Aviva, they don't require a tracker (I don't have one) and they are a waste of time and at the end of day why would you want it back?

I'm with Aviva, but will be checking with DirectLine upon renewal. Both came back with really decent pricing.

Cheers dudes... I did kind of check initially with a regular M3 and it didn't come up that high. Also I'm a salesmans dream which doesn't help my situation. I'll no doubt be giving some of them a call. Some of the ones mentioned were already on the comparison sites I used and didn't provide quotes...

Has someone tried AdrianFlux?

Also interested to know whether anyone of you are 30 years old. Bet that doesn't help my situation being fairly 'young' although I don't feel it

Each year I end up with a different provider - that's insurance, no one is cheap for everyone. This year my award goes to NFU Mutual who were 40% cheaper than the next best quote, which was from Directline. You have to call NFU, no online quote system.

I'm with direct line. £300 all in and I'm 37 with 9 years NCD.

Just renewed our other car with them too as they came out cheapest again.

Highly recommend you give them a try online.

I had an issue with Direct line in that they wanted to class any factory fit option as a modification, which I tried to explain but gave up in the end as each "modification" sent the price soaring.

Don't panic. I swapped from an F30 330d to M4 and my insurance dropped from 340 to 315 Manchester postcode.

£1,600 with Stuart Collins. Tracker required too.

I have no choice though as I have to have an unlimited green card for driving in Europe.

Yeah, it's ridiculous. They're the only insurer I've found that will offer fully comprehensive cover for a UK registered car to drive an unlimited amount of time in Europe.

The only reason I justify it is because in Holland my M4 would cost almost double what it costs to buy in the UK.

On that basis you've cracked it.

That money saving expert link was pretty useful. Tried Direct Line it was a bit cheaper but excess was crazy high.

Just going to have to keep plugging away until I get something more reasonable. Current multicar policy is with admiral. Anybody know how to squeeze the most out of them or their discounts?

Get them on the phone and kid them you have had a cheaper offer, then ask what they are prepared to offer, my wife's with them and got £85 off her policy
