ISTA-D Question - Controlling A Running Engine?

I have the ISTA-D (Reingold) program and have used it to support some maintenance items on both my F80 and also a bit on my wife's F25 (X3). I have used the software mostly for the maintenance procedures and clearing a few engine fault codes. However, I know that just scratches the surface of what this tool can do.

What I want to know is can I control a running engine with it, and if so how? By control, I am talking about running and holding the engine at a certain RPM for when I can't be in the driver seat with my foot on the gas. As the F-series cars are all "fly-by-wire" throttle control via the ECU, I would think this would be possible.

Unfortunately, the ISTA-D program is not a very intuitive GUI. I did not want to go poking around the software without a little insight from those with some more experience with the software.

Thanks!

Yes, you may be able to, once connected to your car, explore ISTA by using text search or the service functions. If you don't find any ABL to do so, a rock or the old trick of wedging an object against the fuel pedal may work

If your reason for doing so may be part of a valid test procedure, then there are chances it may exist.

No rocks for me, LOL... But I was ultimately able to use my teenage son's foot for the job . Not for a BMW test procedure, I needed to keep the engine at 2k rpm for some intake valve cleaner treatment on my wife's X3 (F25). I figured that functionality in ISTA-D would be good to know for future reference.

After basic vehicle test is done, select DME, then next to "vehicle test", click on "Call Up ECU functions" and explore
