Are you lowered. The lip and wheels look great even if you are not lowered.

I would not install a lip like this without the bracing.

Thanks for letting me know it does not have them.

Is it necessary to attach the lip to the frame? I think so simply because that is how the lip is designed.

Someone posted a picture of the M Performance lip installed without a bracket - the center of the lip sags and pulls away from the bumper because the bracket was not installed.

To be sure, the photo was taken on a track (don't know what speed the car was traveling at), but my point is to emphasize parts should be installed the way they are designed and not cut corners.
That picture was likely my car.

So what happened with your lip? Doesn't look like it's really sagging in your pic.

By having the lip installed onto the bumper cover and the 8mm screws only you can see the lip pulling the air dam down (look at my central intake and you can see the bumper pulling away from the lower grille).

If this lip actually generates any downforce then I see not having real supports being an issue for how I use my car.

Which version of the M Performance lip do you have? ABS plastic or CF? btw, who installed? Indy shop or dealership?

This was a JWL Mperformance carbon style. The lip itself was very rigid but it didn't utilize the central support the OEM and RKP versions do(and I think more are starting to) so I noticed it after the end of sessions my bumper was pulled down. It just popped back into place so no damage was done.

I'm currently using the OEM M performance lip with the center support and I've not had this issue since.

I saw in the diagrams of the OEM GTS and CS lips they use support brackets and would consider a quality aftermarket if they did the same. I have brake ducts so I'm limited on what splitter/lip I can use.

Paid $350 to have the lip and side skirts covered with PPF.

Did you install the rear trunk diffuser? Personally I have a Stage II tune for my F83 and feel the front lifting up during hard acceleration, thus why I'm interested in the front splitter (weight is biased towards the rear with the hard-top, especially when the top is down in the trunk boot).

What's this you speak of? A trunk spoiler or simply a rear diffuser? First time I've heard of this terminology so I was just curious.

I combined the two terms, should of been trunk lip. For the M Performance, BMW recommends the trunk lip to equal the downward forces (F80/F82), but it has been mentioned before that the convertible with the weight shifted to the rear doesn't require the trunk lip.

That will be a function of spring rates (more specifically spring and damper performance) rather than downforce. If that's troubling you, address that.

These spoilers and skirts and what not are entirely aesthetic purchases unless you are driving at high speeds.

Would it be possible to not drill in any new holes into the bumper and use only the holes that have existing screw points in the bumper and then use 3M double stick adhesive automotive tape to mount the lip?

Where would I buy the L shaped bracket to mount/connect the center point to the front bumper frame?

Would the lip bend under high speed and become unattached?

I understand that the Mode Carbon GTS lip only uses existing screw points in the bumper and 3M adhesive tape to mount it and it is solid.

There's only 2 bolt holes that line up with the factory bolts. All of the other holes in the lip will have to be drilled in the bumper cover with bolts put in, as well as the 3m tape.

RW said 3m tape is unecessary, but I don't see how it could hurt. The only thing I'd be worried about was when going to remove/resell, how easy it would be to remove the leftover tape.

Well, I think I'm going to take the plunge and install one without the center bracket. Despite all the warnings, I'm going to risk it ripping off and damaging god knows what underneath, all because I'm too lazy to take the front bumper off.
