Squeaky Door Seal SIB

Hey Guys,

So I had a 2015 F80 and the door seals were loud as hell any time the frame flexed. I had the SIB done with the teflon tape and it really fixed the sound. It went completely silent.

Fast forward to now, and I have a 2017 F80 with the same problem, but the dealer is saying the SIB doesnt apply to my vin/year? Why? This makes no sense the sound is just as bad.

Have you guys done anything to remedy this?

Thanks!
Chris

I've got a 2017 F80 and the seals squeak like no other.

The Gummi Plefge solution doesn't work for me. I've tried it numerous times, and continue trying. I've applied it to the areas that someone pointed out as the right areas in a thread here and the squeaks continue.

Haven't tried the tape thing even though it seems like the only one with a 100% success rate.

It's certainly annoying as my FJ is super quiet compared to the F80 (not factoring in engine and exhaust noise).

The Teflon tape didn't do anything for me. Gummi helps a little. Important to get it underneath the seal where it touches the door too. It's not a bug it's a feature I'm sure.

This is true. I did this on my previous F30 and now F80. I actually find what works is putting Vaseline on the felt material around each door. Of course the Vaseline spills over from the felt to the rubber seal so not sure which is actually silencing the flex squeaks.

2017. SIB or not, it's still making the damn noise. Sounds like you need to get tough with them...

Squeaky Door Seal SIB

I had my car in for an oil service and mentioned the door seals were creaking so my dealer lubricated them. So far so good, but they did find an oil leak so I have to take it back for diagnostics. I have a July 2018 build M3 with 9445 miles.

No need for Teflon tape

Swissvax shield or similar ptfe based paste wax applied to full gloss black trim will get you through a solid 3-6 months of squeak free motoring

Tell them again to apply the exact same SIB but slowly this time.

Dealers have a couple of solutions for this problem: the Teflon SIB and lubrication on both sides of the seals -door and frame.
