Anybody else waiting to catch a boat?

800# keeps saying "vehicle in transit. Contact dealer" but neither my CA or the operator can see it. Anyone have a clue what in transit means? I dropped it off at login out in Munich on 9/29.

Try calling login directly. They can give you some insight.

True that! Just wait 10 days after you drop it off to ask them. I dropped off my ED on 9/25 and I just found out mine will be on the Hestia Leader set to sail 10/10/14 and arrive at Port Hueme on 11/7/14.

Thanks! I sent them an email and they responded quickly with my info. My car will be on the Elektra departing 10/13 and arriving 10/24. So it will have spent about 15 days at port.

Hopefully it will be ready for pick up early November, which is perfect timing for me. I'm running the Marine Corps Marathon the week before, giving me a week to recover and a reward to look forward to!

Well since you're being nice and asked....could you give me the details of the Paris drop-off contact? I have TT Transit details, but pretty sure I should be contacting BMW, not the car transiting company. I dropped mine off last Tuesday September 30th and am hoping it at least pops up on the radar by now. I was told I should add 1 week to re-delivery for a non-German location.

Hope you enjoy the car, I know you will LOVE the color.

BTW, I finally got a chance to experience Pittsburgh this summer. A group of friends take a baseball trip every year and this year PNC park was on the calendar. Awesome city and super cool ballpark. Mt. Washington was a surprise and the Pimento bros sandwiches were better than expected.

Just got an email from my CA with a notice saying my car will be delayed 6-9 weeks. Here's the wording:

I have attached a list of M3’s and M4’s which will be delayed by an unforeseen retrofit of 19” wheels. (The Central Region list is pasted below).

These cars are produced, but in status 181 awaiting the retrofit.

The delay may be 6-9 weeks.

Please inform your dealers right away so they can communicate this unfortunate situation to their customers,.

CA called and said the car is built with 19s, but there's some retrofit going on...as to why? I/they have no idea. They're trying to see if they'll ship it here now and put my winters on for delivery, then just give me the new set of 19's when they come in.

Sucks. Those of you stuck in status 181 may have the same situation.

Was your car an ED or stuck in same 181? Also my CA says he sees nothing like this. Was it from the VPC or something? Do you have the 'list'?

What on earth is a Retrofit of 19" wheels?

Supply issue I could see.

Or... if there was a recall requiring replacement, then it's likely that everybody who has taken delivery of up until now would get a recall notification. Unless there was a bad batch I suppose.

But I've never heard the term retrofit used in place of a recall. I have heard of a retrofit as a solution to a recall. Anyway, the terminology sounds strange to me.

Not an ED car but I've been status 181 since 9/23. I think they sanitized the list because all it had was my VIN.

What I posted was exactly what the email said, nothing more. I thought the word retrofit sounded weird too... like it would have been a recall. I asked my CA and he didn't have any more info. All he said was the car is built, they just need to swap wheels. Guessing a shortage or something but 6-9 weeks seems pretty ridiculous.

Oh well, it is what it is.

I ordered black 19s as well.

What pisses me off most about this whole ordeal is that if I knew that I couldn't take delivery until early 2015; First, I would wait until spring. Second, I would probably get a better deal at that time as the demand will have certainly subsided by then.

And... if you've been following the CF roof w/roof racks thread, it sounds like there might be a running change to roof.

There is a lot of speculation in this statement but... we might be taking delivery of a car with an old roof well after a new roof has been developed for the car. And perhaps have paid more than the market price at the time of delivery. All because of our wheel color choice.
