Connected Drive 2016 models

I thought that this package was standard for 2016 models? I didnt select the package when I bought the car because I thought it was included anyway. I called to set up the app and was told i had to order the package. Did anyone who ordered a 2016 successfully get their BMW remote at set up?

The BMW Remote App? I have set this up. It requires you to register at the ConnectedDrive website.

https://www.bmw-connecteddrive.com/c...selection.html

If you're not registered, call BMW or the Genius at your dealership. They should set it up for you.

Why would it still be listed as a $500 option if it is standard?

It was one of those weird build things, many folks on this forum (in canada) reported getting the connected drive package included in the car build without ever requesting it on the build sheet or paying for it. This was specific to MY2016 cars earlier this year.

The running theory on this board was maybe BMW were including the hardware for free in hopes that with it being pre-installed more people would opt into the subscription based services.

Well that solves it. I dont have any of those line items on my list. This is annoying because I would have ordered it. My fault for not really digging in to find out if it was true connected drive became standard on 2016 Canadian cars.

ConnectedDrive has several features that require specific hardware to function (as noted in this thread). This page has detailed information on the requirements and availability of the BMW ConnectedDrive services:
