So the M3/M4 have the exact same exhaust setup. I'm sure the aftermarket folks will appreciate this.

Thanks Jason, very informative.

Please be so kind and allow me to ask you some questions.
  1. Wheel - 513M (9x18, 10x18) indicate that those are forged (title/name says geschmiedet). Is this correct?
  2. Wheel - 640M (8.5x18, 9x18) does not include geschmiedet. So does this mean those are not forged?
  3. Wheel - ???? (9x19, 10x19) indicate that those are forged (title/name says geschmiedet). Is this correct?
  4. Wheel - 641M (8.5x19, 9x19) does not include geschmiedet. So does this mean those are not forget?
Thanks in advance for all of your help.

Best regards,
Guenther

Muffler looks complex. Maybe Akrapavic can save more than 50 lbs this time.

Cheers.

be aware, the thumbnail pictures at the bottom right of the diagrams are not always accurate. (i.e. 641M diagram)

And my guess is that 640M and 641M are winter wheels since they are narrower and it appears neither are forged to save cost....this is just my educated guess

Correct, as was posted here back in February. Note that the images of the two winter wheels are inverted in the older thread.

I believe Porsche started offering Lithium Ion batteries as an option for 911 and Caymans in 2010 or something, some of the Porsche batteries are as light as 5.2kg but the nominal capacity is only around 18Ah.
AMG SLS black has lithium.

Yes, of the two winter wheels, the 19" 641M is the one with the spokes closer together. The spokes on the 18" 640M appear to be almost the same thickness and spacing as those for the standard 18" 513M summer wheels. Some prototype cars in spy shots had a 19" wheel that looked very similar to these 18" wheels but the F8x PM has said that these were just test wheels and will not be offered for production. That is, unless they happen to do something similar for the competition package (but I'm just speculating - don't count on it).

Lithium batteries are the future. As long as they use the latest technologies that don't catch on fire. :derp:

Yes, because those images were pre ETK release. They were only for use WITHIN bmw corporate. Don't ask how I got them. In other words no one had proofed the images and part numbers back when that ETK was in the preproduction phase. When BMW AG sends out the ETK to its dealers... many, many people from with in BMW have proofed read and checked all the part numbers and images. Some stuff might get by the first or second ETK release, but as subsequent ETK's versions are updated... so too is the technical and parts data.

Btw... the Li-Ion battery can not be retrofitted to other BMW models. This is bc the charging system(SW and alternator) is different on the F8x models in order to charge the Li-Ion battery to 14.8 volts.

IF one were to install a Li-Ion battery in another (BMW)car... the battery would not last very long and it would be ruined.

When do you think general m3 parts will become available to purchase? I want the carbon fiber interior for my f30.

The Braille Li-ion battery works fine in the E90. The new BMW Li-ion battery for the F8x must be different.

@stressdoc - does this answer our question in the other thread on whether the 437Ms are forged or not?

the price list says only light alloy, as far as I can tell:
