I think it looks terrible!!! I think it needs to go back to a more low key power dome (functional or not) like the E46 M3 or B7 Audi RS4(). The E9X was outrageous in a "Looks at me!" kind of way. I think more sleeper but still recognizable and aggressive and slightly "manly". Even the F10 M5 is too in your face for me, especially considering the M5 was always supposed to be the sleeper. Just my honest opinion.

What do you want it to look like!? Less in your face? You want an M car to look like any other car?

No you want an M car to say "F U, I am here to party!"

Then stick with your 5 series as it doesn't have a bulge.

As long as it is functional, I am all in.

Yeah now that I look closer, I don't see a hole. Like you said, if it was functional this thing wouldn't be closed off. If it's not functional then it'll just induce more form drag. I make fun of mustangs with hoods like this.

People aren't claiming to know more than the engineers. What is wrong with asking for function before form? If the dome or vent is there for a purpose, then that's great. If it's there just for aesthetics, it seems misleading that it was not designed for a specific reason.

Not sure if anyone has noticed, but there seems to be air intakes on the edge of the bonnet. They definitely don't look like irregular panel gaps that we often see with development cars. The gaps look very accurately designed despite the camo, very much like the ones on the 458 italia.

I can't imagine BMW adding a non functional power bulge.

you can clearly see the one on that car is not functional. They are probably going to put a speaker in the car like the m5 too, makes it go WOOSH.

You're being sarcastic, right? Cause our M3 has at least 3 Non functional features.

I was looking at the older pictures of the F80 and it appears that the camo would have been thick enough to hide the bulge. This makes me think that it has been there since the beginning. So even if it isn't an extractor it could still be functional.

The drivers side provided cooling capacity to the DME.

Aren't the E46 vents functional in pulling heat from the engine bay? It's definitely not like the 1M where it's just put on top of the sheet metal. I own an E46 M3 and I definitely feel heat coming out of the vents after driving. With engines like the S54 and S65 that rev high and operate at higher temps i believe the vents are actually functional in reducing the heat levels.
