I'm not surprised about the Z4 M40i. The new M340i is roughly as quick as a stock f80 M3.

For some reason I had to change my log in email which completely locked me out of this messageboard with no help so I had to sign up all over again. You gotta take it easy with this rep counting.

Maybe the OP can share his previous name if that is the case...

Good catch. Total troll. But likely true. I'm guessing the Z has a lower torque curve as well. They are both fast cars.

Like I posted previously, the Z4 might "feel" faster, but independent tests show it isn't faster .

Odd. That's what the OP said. He said it "felt" faster. Nothing about his post came off as a troll. Total bummer when you can't post unless you have "the reputation".

1st post ever on the forum saying that "the m4 just felt kinda meh", if that isn't trolling, I don't know what is...

I'd look in the mirror. Anyone on these forums says anything negative about your beloved M4 - gawd help them if they say CS, and you attack them.

Here is a life tip for you - "Assume positive intent" in all things. I bet it will change you - in a good way.

Yeah regarding feel... which is all OP said... I had an M240i before my M, and the first time I drove the M, it didn’t feel too different than the M240i. BMW tunes the non-real-M engines for more low end torque. I assume the Z4 is no different. It takes getting through a few gears and some seat time to really appreciate the M3/4 speed. But the Z4 is pretty close in terms of power, and the size/seating position probably has an impact. Either way, there are a lot of cars that feel or are faster than ours. Who cares? Our cars are fast.

Re troll though... This is a pretty silly first post on an M3/4 board.

Wait! This the same guy that was trying to justify that the CS isn't better than the ZCP. I would ignore this dude.

He lost his prior sign on; I had same issue. Looks like I'm new too.

Agreed though...

A lot of cars are fast now. Difference is M3/M4 manages speed effortlessly!!!

I was on hwy other day moving at a good clip and a 440i was trying to keep pace. After about 10 minutes the 440 just fadded in rear view.

At speed the M3/M4 is solid!

While there I test drove an m4 for fun to see how it feels again after owning a z4m40i for a few months. The m4 felt slower, like it had less torque, and felt like a heavy boat. I'd assume since it's smaller it feels like that but I just thought it was very interesting
Unless you are racing, competing, or comparing timing slips or lap times, if your current car feels faster than that’s a good thing. I’d actually love to drive a Z4. Love the look and I’d enjoy a convertible. The reality though I that the F8X is faster in more ways than not.

I can't see why you'd observe this. The 440i would handle 120mph-130mph effortlessly. Yes, the m3/m4 has more HP....but it also has more drag and it's alignment isn't prioritized for stability at high speed (Because it's built for agility at high speed). Although my m3 blasts up to 100mph (or above) incredibly easily....just ludricrously easily ....it's smoother to cruise at those speeds in an x3 m40i for example despite it's lower power, much higher weight, and greater frontal area.

Yes M3 designed to cut the wheel at 120+ off camber down hill no guard rails

Please don't judge me...

My brain jacked cause of sport bikes

103 mph is first gear on a ZX10R

120...... 🐌 my old a$$ 06 GTI can run 120

I'm talking moving 163

But yes the x3 m340 is more comfy cruiser

Not meaning to go off track here but If we're talking 1320 Personally I believe the G80 M3 will run 10's out the box bone stock with a poor driver and I also believe within the first 3 months of being available someone will put it into the 9's!

I'm very excited and looking forward to owning one, based on what I see going on with the F90 M5, M8, A90 supra and the current X3M/X4M the new M3 which I view as somewhat of an offspring of those 4 platforms as far as drivetrain and tech is concerned will be a MONSTER!appvalley tutuapp tweakbox

I have a Z4 sdrive 30i vert and it's peppy if anything. Fun to scoot around in compared to my M3. Seems quick enough for what it is and in all black w/black wheels it's fairly aggressive looking.

New tech is great and makes the F8x seem super dated. Screen is huge and wraps into the dash so it looks part of the whole cockpit instead of tacked on.

All in all I like the new BMW interiors and have hope the new G8x will be special.

I saw a Z4 in person for the first time at the dealership last week. Good looking car. It is too bad they aren't going to make an M version of it, or a closed roof car like the shooting brake Z4M.

Interior looked amazing. I think it is my favorite new BMW.

Why does it matter if his previous name has a ton of "REP"?

You take threads or posts from individuals more seriously or less judgemental if they have more of a "resume?"

Don't take this the wrong way but that's a horrible way to look at things. God knows how you are when you look at people in life in general.
