... lol at the ///M owners flexing over tenths of a second.
So does this mean that the ZCP fanatics are full of shit and the Honda Civic M3 crowd's feelings are safe for another day? The interior on the C63 isn't even comparable to what's in the M3/M4 and the C63 pays for it with its weight disadvantage, but damn - that's a nice play to be.

Both good. Nobody on the street will drive more than 8/10ths without getting their license pulled. With my tuned E90, I run out of road before I run out of car and I have less than 400 ponies.

Given the results:
- M2 is best and most car & power for the money - M4 with 6MT was most fun to drive out of all Nothing else matters. P.s. Form the driver of f80 m3 with DCT

Except for the motor trend test. Somehow they managed to make the amg lap over a second faster. Maybe because the track favored higher speeds as supposed to a more technical track.

C63S excels on more open, higher speed tracks. The M3 excels on the tighter, more technical tracks. Same as last generation. Including the ATS-V, the performance of this segment is very close. The average of their lap times throughout these comparos are so similar, it is a little crazy actually. Except for the RC-F, which is just terrible attempt. Lexus will fix that next time around...hopefully. |

the finish was very very close, just as it would be now if the race was between current gen cars. skip to 5:20 if you don't have the time. The difference is how the cars drive- getting from point A to point B was/is/has been pretty much nearly the same. some of us value lightness/low weight, some value exhaust noise, some value looks or interior, some value NA, etc.

also, i would take m/t results with a grain of salt. they have the x5m/x6m on willow springs faster than the m3. I have both cars and that's just plain ridiculous, there is no way. if you look at other tracks the x5m/x6m is not even close to f8x times. m/t also praised the cts-v and the gm auto box, then the latest video vs the gs-f they criticize the same cts-v's autobox as too slow, bouncing off the rev limiter. I watch m/t reviews like I watch luche libre or wrestling, it is more for entertainment value than facts, especially when they put Johnny Lieberman and Jason Cammissa together.

Or are you limiting your definition of potential to drag racing? The test highlights that AMG still prefers to make a heavy muscle car over a light weight nimble sports car. Due to it's more powerful engine, the AMG claws back some of what it looses on the track. I think that if we go 10 years down the road we will still see the same scenario as we do today at track day events at places like the Nurburgring. There will be a lot of BMW M3/M4 from the F8x generation tearing up the Ring, just like there are a lot of E46 and E9x today. AMG's are rarely seen and if you see one, it's usually not driven hard or track prepped like a lot of the M3's are. The heavy current gen AMG C-class will probably not become a track tool either... Not saying it's a bad car, just slightly different philosophy. And the F8x has a huge advantage to start with because of it's lighter weight. Which means it has much more potential to be the better and faster track car. |
