Gas mileage
If BMW can produce a tri turbo powered V6 that gives 420 plus horse power and moves 0 to 60 in under 4.5 seconds all the while getting 26 mpg on the hwy on a daily commute to work, it will sell like hot cakes. Additionally, on the used market, BMW dealers will have no problem selling them. Right now the current 20mpg at best scares a lot of people off. |

Ludwig Willisch, President of BMW North American, stated that the F80/F82 BMW will have an inline six. He also said that a tri-turbo is "unlikely". He also said that the new 3 Series M Coupe and Convertibles will be called M4. I was there, I heard him say all those things.
It was also reported here on Bimmerpost over three weeks ago (5/21): We can finally confirm that the next generation M3 (F80 / F82) will be powered by an inline 6 cylinder engine. We spoke to the President of BMW North America, Mr. Ludwig Willisch, at a current BMW event and he has officially confirmed that the next generation M3's engine will indeed feature an inline 6 layout and not a V6.http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=694375 Sorry you didn't get the memo.

So what you're saying is that inside BMW M they said "Let's have the President of BMW NA purposely lie in a public appearance in front of thousands of BMW fans and say that the new M engine will be an inline 6 just so we can throw everybody off because it's still a "great secret" that it's actually going to be a V6."
Sorry, but Mr. Willisch has more credibility in my eyes than you do. Your view is still speculation, but what he said is fact. In the absence of any other hard facts, I don't know how you can argue against that.
