Turned in my 6MT M5 for a 6 MT M4
Just picked up my M4. AW/SO. How does it compare to the M5? it's smaller, lighter, less torque, less luxury blah blah blah, but we all knew that. These two shouldn't be cross shopped. However, the smaller engine does work well with the 6MT and doesn't feel like a bucking bronco like in the M5. The M4 is a much more dynamic car. Thanks to George Javier at Rallye BMW for helping me out. In the end though, neither the M4 nor the M5 can come close to how much fun and smiles my other Alpine White BMW brings me. Adventure and motorcycle camping woo hoO!!!

Interesting, I cross shopped the two cars. CPO Manual m5 vs New BMW m4.. ultimately decided I didn't need the size / heft of the M5 and ended up keeping my 550i, don't need two 4 doors!

If you go used on the M5, the depreciation makes it comparable in terms of price. The size, presence, ventilated seats, auto close trunk, rear heated seats, along with that stonking motor makes it a different animal. When new, a very expensive animal. Plus when on the road, it's the top dog BMW along with the M6. Every other BMW cowers in it's presence haha. I'm being silly but yeah I miss it

When I was in the market for an F10 M5 a few years ago I was ecstatic when my local dealer had the only manual in California. After the test drive I was extremely disappointed. The 6mt just doesn't feel right in the M5. The one in my M4 was great. Less rubbery than my e92 and easy to drive.

Congrats, I'm sure you will enjoy the nimbleness of the M4 compared to the M5. I'm also going from a Cayenne GTS to an M3 and I expect it should be a whole lot of fun

The ONLY thing I would want out of the m5 in my m3 is the ventilated seats. My rental 2015 Ford Explorer just had them and I was super stoked about it. There is nothing quite like a well cooled scrotum.

Thanks for all the positive comments fellas. I keep my track bikes 600's because I don't want to die lol. As for the M5, I didn't like the 6MT at first but after a while I ended up loving it. Repeated test drives of the DCT never convinced me otherwise. Some reviews state that as well. You kind of roll with it. Anyways, a car with a big motor that's mated to a stick is always gonna be fun. Not elegant but always fun. Anyways here are some more pics next to my IS. Funny, the IS's ultra white makes the alpine white almost seem cream colored which I wasn't expecting. Also, the IS's angles makes the M4 look a bit conservative. I wasn't expecting that either.

Congrats! I too was looking to lease M5's back when I ordered the M4. I figured I would save the $200+ dollars per month and have zero regrets!
