That looked like it really wasn't done on purpose... Drifting out onto the outside curb like that is really sketchy. This corner tightens and catches everyone out, so maybe it was an error?

Yep, when he kept getting closer to the curb I thought he was going to go off the track or spin out.

The breaks had nothing to do with the recovery but you reminded me that I had to give mine up unless I wanted to wage till October for my car.

Steel aren't gonna have the bite those CCBs did after many laps around the track. Look how much bite they had. It was partially the balance but the brakes are what brought him back.

This amateur driver simply got very lucky. IMO, it is not his driving skills even less the CCB that saved him. The car was in oversteer and the driver did very little to correct the situation (countersteered too late and too little), he almost lost the car and luckily, just at the right moment, the rear wheel hit the banked curb. This is what stopped the slide and saved the driver's ass.

I'm not sure that the CCB did a difference here

As others have pointed out, the outside wheel hitting the curb is what seems to straighten up the car. I cannot see the brake lights lighten up either until after the car has hit the curb...

But as many posts have thought me here, there usually are more to these things than what I can tell... If the CCB indeed makes a difference, at which point during the video did the increased bite of the CCBs make a difference?

The poor driving skills lead me to believe this is not a factory test driver.

Can't you see when he smashed on the brakes and it whips the car back straight?

No. All the others are right. It's the wheels hitting the curb that brings the car back straight, not the brakes.

I can see that the car hits the curb and the brake lights going on. To me it would be the force of hitting the curb that straighten up the car.

I don't know how going hard on the brakes during a drift would whip a car straight

ESP can straighten up a car by using the brakes independently, but there is no way that is going to happen if the driver is hitting the brakes during a drift... (if it did, then there would be no need for ESP You could just hit the brakes to straighten up the car...)

Have you ever tried smashing the brakes during a drift? I have done it several times and have never experienced the car being straightened up by hitting the brakes. Quite the contrary, it only exagerates the drift/loss of control. Leaving the ESP on however makes a difference. On a good system you can really feel how it straightens up the car (I have done comparison tests between different cars at a track and the difference between ESP systems was noticeable in higher speeds).
