These were straight, middle-of-the-road predictions in their time.

The organizations are simply planning for every eventuality that is before them. In fact, as we are on Climate Change, let me bring up the other great fallacy from my youth: The world will be completely out of fossil fuels by the year 2000. I should start another thread. My point is this: Preparation is fine and good for all...hysterics are bad for everyone.

Ok so you didnít read anything...............These governments are actively planning and preparing for not if it happens, but when. This is with Trump in office and regardless of what did or didnít happen based on past predictions.

It is obviously your right not to believe any of it, but it doesnít mean you are right.

7 billion humans and it's not like we are living in conditions like we did 100 years ago.

Math says humans are the issue.

Governor Moonbeam blaming all the horrible California wildfires on global warming now (or are we supposed to call it man made climate change I'm so confused). He's says this is the new normal. Book this as what might *possibly* be a correct prediction, but for reasons other than what that dumbass Moonbeam means.

Somebody should tell Moonbeam that California has generally been a barren desert, and that the 20th Century had the most precipitation in California of any century for over 1000 years. The dry conditions we're seeing now are possibly just California reverting back to the norm.....a dry ass desert.

I did and I'm familiar with them. I am simply stating that they are planning on exploiting any area that is accessible to them. These plans change over time and as strategic imperatives change. Remember when Europe, specifically Germany was the great line in the sand? The the 38th parallel followed by Viet Nam, the Middle East etc. This evolves over time as 40 years ago it was the desert now it's the far north. Hang around long enough and the area of strategic importance shifts.

It may seem that way but every human being on this planet could move to the state of Texas with plenty of room left over. Do the math.

Iíve been around and keep on this stuff as much as I can. That is my point, no matter what political ideologues are doing or saying it doesnít matter. All,of these countries and orginazations are going full steam ahead with these preparations/plans. That really says something to me.

Iíve said this in the past on this subject, I really hope they are wrong and you are right on this one. That would make me very happy.

This I agree with (except for the unnecessary insults), but it does bring up other environmental issues. Like why are we settling so many people in areas that aren’t easily sustained by large populations of humans. Water is going to be a major issue there just as much as these fires are. A lot of this area wasn’t populated so the fires weren’t as big of a deal, but now obviously areas have expanded and it is.

It's an ice shelf on a glacier it grows during the growing season & melts during the melting season, that's how the Earth does things.

I realize that, but I thought it was pretty obvious I wasn’t asking that.

Since you guys like meaningless anecdotes, I’ve lived on a lake here in MN for the last 12 years. And ice over is later and later and ice out is earlier and earlier. Also the Moose population is moving and declining in Nothern MN because of the warming. Multiple annual ice fishing tournaments and sled dog races have had to be canceled because of the warmth/lack of snow and ice. Could it be a natural cycle or could be something else? That is the Trillion dollar question.

I'm happy you are a good steward of humanity. Funny a lot of biotechnology is used to offset he effects of global warming.

Hurricanes and tornadoes are consistently sporadic in timing and frequency as they always have. We get some winters will a small total accumulation of snow and some winters with a large total accumulation of snow. Every 5 years or so we get a blizzard where 3+ feet may fall over a 24-hour period. This is what I'd tell someone from the Andes or the African grasslands if they came and asked me about how the climate has changed in my lifetime.

Then I'd take them to an air-conditioned Wegmans in my air-conditioned E90 and have them freak out over how plentiful food here is due to the capitalist economy we have here in America. I may even treat them to some cold bottled water and a turkey sandwich.
I don't think nor sakhir understand that certain areas are more succeptable than others.
The difference for the Peruvian Andes is that there are now mosquitos at higher altitudes and areas which have been grazed for hundreds if not thousands of years have dissappeared quite abruptly in Africa.

The point I'm making with this thread is that while nearly everyone recognizes that we need to be good stewards of the environment, which is what I advocate for fully, the message of "The Sky Is Falling" is both nothing new as well as shockingly inaccurate.
So because scientists made mistakes in the past, we should completely disregard the new techniques and dicoveries?

I even run my own carbon offset program with the i8 vs the M6...see?

Not disregard, lets take a more measured approach. Without the panic. Without the recriminations. Can we both agree on that?

Nope. Food is not a problem either. They pay people in this country to NOT grow food. The food problem is a politically based distribution problem...not a food production problem. Opportunities would fall into a different category.

Well, I'm cool with moving to Texas, just let me know when! If we haven't been feeding the world now, I'm sure it'll go down well when we are all closer together.

I'll start packing today!
