I was wondering when these would start coming in. Pretty much what you'd expect based on the initial F8x reviews back in May.
Priced the Equivalent of 100k USD in the UK. Wow

This is a very tempting alternative to supercharging the E93 M3, AND it comes with better back-seat room as well. Hmmm...

I'm looking forward to move in-depth reviews (perhaps from members here). While it's good to read both of these reviews, they essentially mimic E93 reviews - it's a little heavier, handles surprisingly well for a convertible, is less stiff than the coupe, and sounds great with the roof down. Not sure if this adds any value to anyone here - we all knew this already!
I'm very curious to hear how it compares to the E93 (which I currently own) with a greater emphasis placed on the engine, steering, noise, and brakes - which is pretty much what counts (I might be missing a couple of things here but I think everyone gets the point). I don't mean to sound grumpy but I'm looking forward to a more in-depth review, as these were far too generic! |

Sweet car, but when it comes to 3 series verts, the E36 is still my favorite.

I've read that BMW consistently sells about 15,000 M 'verts total every generation, so it's a strong but niche offering and one-of-a-kind until the c-class AMG comes along ... So it really should only be compared to the generations before it. |

AutoBild, in German only...
At 2:08 he talks about the one advantage that the M4 convertible has over the coupe. Free access to the sound! He goes on to say that, yes he know a lot of people talk about missing the sound of the V8, but that this engine sounds "grandios"! While cruising it's quiet like a 4 cyl but screams like a V10 under acceleration... Not everyone will agree, but it's interesting that sound has been praised by several reviewers. Something many here would have bet money against happening |

(1.) Sound. You hear the engine, the intake, the exhaust, (now the turbo), the wind, semi trucks, wildlife, the ocean, and whatever else is happening around you. You haven't really been scared until you thread between two loaded dump trucks with the top down going 80mph under full throttle - you hear the rocks bounce off the pavement and whizz through the air right past your skull. (2.) Smell. You smell oil, petrol, burning rubber, burning brakes, sage brush, pine, the ocean, and anything else that's happening around you. (3.) Feel. The wind - when you're going fast with top down, it feels fast. Bonus: shit you find in your car after a week of top-down driving. Mostly acorns, pine needles, etc but you also get the occasional bolt or other hardware. |

BMW should make a new "convertible system" made entirely of carbon fiber, including all the internal and external parts that move in the process. This would decrease the compromise of getting a convertible because of the weight and looks with closed roof.

My thoughts exactly. Everytime I take a BMW survey I make that suggestion. I think if they made the outer shell of carbon fiber, it would help reduce the weight of the car. I wonder if they could use the the carbon fiber from the building of the i3 and i8 to manufacture the top? |
