Bootmod3 after getting an i-step update?
Hi,
I was on stage 1 tune but flashed the stock map and locked the DME before getting an i-step update. After the update, i wanted to flash stage 1 again. Im getting a warning about the software on the tune is different than the software on the DME. Has anyone gone through this yet? I want to delete the old stock tune and then copy the updated stock tune and unlock the DME and then flash the stage 1 tune again. Similar to what happens when you first purchase BM3. There are no options to delete the stock tune or copy the current tune on the car and unlock the DME. I've contacted protuningfreaks and waiting on a response. Any advice? Thanks, |

**Vehicles that have had a software update from a BMW dealer, or new vehicles delivered after June 2019 have an updated bootloader block that currently prevents OBD flashing. In this case, the DME will have to be sent for bench loading.

Thanks for that. I thought i read it was only the hardware of 2019+ cars that prevented tunes.

I just did the same - 2018 M4 Competition with very latest Istep from dealer. Bootmod3 flashed with no issues and so did the GTS transmission flash. All good..

Someone mentioned anything 6/19 and newer I step but that only matters if you have the dme hardware that can lock and require a bench unlock. Can't remember the hardware but you can find it using a search.
