Rear Diffuser that Retains Hands Free Trunk Operation

Is there any diffuser in the market that retains the ability to open the trunk with a kick? I'm surprised that even BMW's M Performance diffuser doesn't retain this function.

I saw one for Status Gruppe, but have no idea how good it is... so looking for some feedback. Thanks!

short answer - none of them.

all will desensitize it, some will block it from working completely.

I went with Gloss Black M Performance Style rear diffuser in FRP just so I could retain the rear kick function.

I went with Gloss black plastic diffuser too to get the CF look AND keep handsfree trunk operation. If you're more than 4ft away from my car you'd not know its not carbon fiber.

I had the SG diffuser... it looked great and fit right... and worked with the trunk kick option about 95 percent of the time. I have pictures on my build thread... link on my signature below...

I changed diffuser eventually cuz i wanted something different and hardly ever used the trunk kick any way.

What is the gloss black M performance style diffuser? Is there a link you can share?

My wife would love to have the kick function, and I am trying to see what can be done while making the car look better.

I wish there was a CF solution- since I am planning to get the M Performance CF spoiler for the F80.

Thanks for all the replies guys!

You can read thru this link or search eBay for your car type e.g. BMW M4 painted diffuser. eBay can be a hit or miss though.

Well it seems that the consensus on other threads in the forum is that its nerdy to want the kick feature.

So looks like I'll just have to get a diffuser and forgo the kick feature and look like a badass!

M Perfomance

M performance difusser works, desentized , you need to actually make light contact with the diffuser to get it (trunk) to work or increase operational statistics

Good luck

I bought this one. Fitment is 100% perfect. Listing is matte black, but I message them and asked for GLOSS BLACK instead and they were able to accommodate. Pricing was the same as matte.

Good luck
If installed by a dealer, their instructions say to disable the feature, so it won't work at all.
