It's amazing to see a Ruskie drag race involving an Italian and a German coupe. This is proof positive of American exceptionalism spread far and wide.

These Ferraris run mid 10s@+135mph in stock form, so MAJOR driver error!

The extra 30+K on the 62ish-K Base are things that add weight. A Ferrari is just a nice car that is track capable, the difference here is are you willing to strip your M series BMW bare or your Ferrari bare, put a cage in it, larger turbo's, have the computer programmed/tuned properly.

Different things for different people it's nice to have a fast street car, I track my M4, my sticker was about 93K, now I want to find a salvaged car to strip or just strip what I have again it's all about preference, that V12 does sound nice though.

Mid engine cars are the way to go. Definitely loving my M even though I just replaced pads on my CCB at 19K, btw you wont get a warning light telling you that your backing plate on your pads is grinding into your discs. Poor engineering or revenue generating placement.

Food for thought, carry on.

Okay so fine. $110K M4. $10K for turbos. $7K for wheels/tires. $2K for tune. $5K for exhaust/intake. $1K for dyno time. I'm still $185K short of the F12
LOL Trust me I've seen at least 8 drive off our lot :P But yea I was just saying it gets pricy. but that's still leaving out, brakes, intercooler, downpipes, charge pipes, interior components(seats harness roll cage) ;D aftermarket gauges haha
I've only had 2 from our lot. But for every $100K+ M4, there are another hundred $80K and less M4's out there. Like I said before, a $100K M4 is not the norm and even if that yellow M4 was $110K with every major performance mod, it's still $100K short of coming to the same price tag as the F12. Let alone passing it as someone suggested before SMH

This is an exceptionally disappointing video, and even more disappointing that we're 5 pages in and only a handful of posts are talking about why.

This is one of the only posts in this thread that starts to zero in on the problem:

Is it just that people on here just aren't familiar with drag racing, and what constitutes a good time relative to what is typically seen on your average Friday night at a run-down drag strip in Anywhere, USA?

Let me put some things in perspective; mid 12s is a pretty respectable time... FOR A BOLT-ON SUBARU. I've seen plenty of daily-driven Integras and Civics make it into the 12s since the late 90s- one comes to mind that got there without forced induction. A naturally aspirated 4-cylinder making ~250hp in a street car would have beat this $320k supercar were it to take the place of that M4 in this video- and PLENTY of people (including car and driver) have piloted a stock M4 to low 12s.

So that begs the question of... why the hell does nearly doubling the horsepower of the M4 net you a whopping .5 seconds in the 1/4 mile?

I always distrust videos like this. As car enthusiasts it's interesting to have things like this as a topic of conversation, but it actually raises more questions than it answers. I wouldn't consider this video any sort of empirical evidence at all. The numbers speak for themselves... either both of the drivers are nowhere close to extracting the full potential of these cars, or there's some sort of equipment malfunction with the timers (although with a 3.0 second 60' I'm inclined to think it's the former... that's just deplorable under any circumstances in a 730 HP car).

You can get 1.8 60' out of street tires, but it obviously requires some substantial skill. People who haven't spent significant time on a drag strip think drag racing is easy, but there's far more to it than mashing the gas pedal (yes, even in cars with launch control...). I won't speak for the guy who posted his time in his 2-series, but I sure as hell consider it more reliable than this video based on personal experience.

I would have expected both the Ferrari and M4 should have been in the 1.5 second range, honestly... yeah it might require drag slicks or at the very least drag radials, but what the hell is the point in tuning a car to 700 HP and drag racing it if you're going to skip arguably the most important modification overall (i.e., tires)?

All that said, this convinces me that the M4 doesn't need any more power than it's got from the factory. Humiliating yourself while beating a Ferrari in a drag race aside, to me it's pointless and doesn't compliment what the car was actually built for, which is to make turns while going fast. And I'm pretty confident the Ferrari would be better at that than the M4, but with this guy driving it I'm sure that would make for an interesting video.

It's great! It's just fast enough for me to not get myself into trouble on a daily basis with all the "nanny" settings. Turn those off and it's fast AF. Goes sideways in about three seconds. Lol.

Looks like the guy in F12 had the emergency brake on the whole race!

I'm sure the launch control procedure is explained very clearly.
and unlike BMW's, Ferrari's launch control works very well.

The F12 is nice in sound and looks, but I would still take the 599GTO over it anyday of the week.

Lexus LFA NE sounds WAY better, and will smoke that F12 so bad that the Ferrari driver may not show his/her face again.
