If these are indeed the lci lamp, then I'm loving it. But not please about the lack of white space for the reverse lamps though.
I'm pretty sure there will be a white space on the LCI. This is a race car; reverse lights are not needed.

The engine is a carryover from last year's M3 DTM, correct? The P66 4.0 L V8?

The reverse light could be tinted red in this photo. However, this isn't a 100% new lci tails... the headlights from the previous DTM car never made it to production therefore the same could be said about the tails on this model

in all seriousness, I'll be very happy with the new engine (I'm already sure of that), but anyone who doesn't respect the S65 for what an amazing engine and piece of engineering it is is a fool. hopefully the new S55 will have the cooling necessary to handle the beatings the S65 stood up to so well. good times ahead.
This will obviously require DTM to change its regulations. What bothers me is that BMW M, with the M standing of course for Motorsport, no longer has that genetic link to motorsports activity. The S65 has a traceable link the P65 (and now P66). The S55 really.. has no actual motorsports application due to the way it is implemented. I know it's really a superficial thing, but this is kind of depressing that there's no link anymore.

BMW needs to come back to F1 given the 1.6L turbo V6, which could potentially at least have turbo technology links.

People need to calm down about the so-called LCI taillights. This is a race car with its own set of requirements for everything, including the lights. The headlights are also different, and no one is losing their minds over those...

We won't see the F32/33/82/83 LCI for at least 3-4 years.

Yup.

The entire series will use 4.0L V8's for the next 2 seasons. Switching to turbo 4-cylinders in 2016.

LOL!!!! Does BMW think we are complete morons.

DTM cars have zero to do with road going cars. They are spec cars, built on a shared carbon monocoque chassis. Spec 4.0L V8's, with one-off aero packages.

The production version of the BMW M4 Coupé provided BMW Motorsport with a perfect basis for developing the DTM racing car. Hardly surprising, given the fact that the primary goal of the BMW M GmbH engineers working on the BMW M4 Coupé was to create a robust car suitable for use on the racetrack.

+1. The race car could be called M8 since it doesn't have anything to do with the M4 or any regular BMW. That is why DTM is decreasing in popularity over the years.
