BMW Advanced Car eye Camera (Dash Cam)
Does anyone have experience with this? Looks awesome. I was thinking of getting the Blackvue 650 but looks like lots of people are having issues with battery drainage. I was wondering is this is any better.

Never seen this one before. European BMW is the manufacturer which seems odd to me. Next time I am in my Dutch dealership, I will ask them if they have seen this and/or installed them.
I like the blackvue 650 as well but really don't want to deal with all the cellink additional battery/comfort access faults with the battery drain. Looks like this one doesn't run constantly when parked but turns on after impact which may be too late. If the guy clips one of your corners and continues he turn, you may not see squat.

I actually hardwired the Blackvue 650 and set the parking mode to 6 hours and have absolutely no issue with battery drain at all. I installed it back in Jan and been happy with it since. I used the multi safer instead of the magic pro.

Hard wired to battery or through the fuse box?

I have had the BMW Advanced Car Eye on my M4 for the last month. If you want to know anything about it let me know.

OK here we go
Pros: - It is reliable - It has a parking mode that doesn't trigger any battery warnings - The BMW logo when it switches on makes it look like a factory installed item - It has front and rear cameras Cons: - It is big and the chrome on the front makes it easy to spot - The hard ride of the M4 triggers the event capture mode frequently, as does heavy acceleration - The parking mode only records for 6 hours I have put black tape over the chrome bits on the front of the camera to make it less noticeable. There is also a hack available to increase the recording time in Park mode and the sensitivity of the Event capture mode, but I haven't tried those yet. On the plus side, it isn't powered by a battery - it uses a supercapacitor, which is much better. It should make it much more reliable than a battery powered equivalent when it gets older. Anything else you want to know, just shout!

Anybody know of a version of this that DOESN'T require an huge screen mounted to my windshield? Would be nice to have a more low profile design. On that note, one would think the "BMW integrated" unit could someone incorporate connectivity to the iDrive system...

I mounted it on the passenger side, so it doesn't obstruct my view. One thing to note - the rear camera has a little blue light on it that cannot be switched off. Goes off after 6 hours. However, the system works faultlessly every time - unlike other dash cams I have used.

And the car parking mode, does that work well? looks pretty well fitted. If only the transparent plastic bit which holds the camera comes in matt black!

Car parking mode works well - but only for 6 hours unless you mod it. But no low battery warnings or anything from the iDrive. It's the main reason why I got the BMW cam - I knew it wouldn't trigger those warnings or disable the Comfort Access because of running the battery down.

Yup - found this on a German forum, which I translated and stuck in a text file along with the zipped config file. Haven't tried it yet in case I break something.

I have the blackvue 650 2ch installed. I wired it into the fuse box myself. Ive had it for 2 months now and havent had a single battery warning. Ive had it running in park mode for over 24 hrs with ignition off and still no warnings.
