So looks like replacing that piece requires changing the entire console. I'm personally worried about that even though dealer assures me it should be fine. I'd be worried about creaking or it not being install correctly.

Anyone else have thoughts on this?

EDIT: BTW I'm personally fine with keeping everything as-is. Dealer is being proactive in trying to take care of this. I'm leaning towards telling them it's fine as-is and I don't want the piece replaced.

I'd leave it. Chances are they'll scratch something on the interior during the install.

My previous F82 had to have the center console (any many other things) completely disassembled. I did a mildly detailed inspection upon receiving the car back and didnt notice anything. A week or 2 went by and then I noticed a small crack in the carbon fiber center console near the iDrive controller. At this point it didnt feel right to put it back on the dealer even though I knew it wasn't from me.

Bottom line, if you decide to have it replaced spend a lot of time inspecting the car the day you receive it. You don't need to have the SA looking over your shoulder but make sure you look at everything in different lighting situations shortly after you drive away because replacing these parts later isn't cheap and if you're anything like me, small scuffs, scratches and cracks annoy the hell out of me if I have to see them everyday and know it wasn't my fault.

That's exactly what I'm afraid of. I declined the replacement. The stitching doesn't bother me and even if it did, it wouldn't bother me as much as a creaky dashboard or center console.

Are you guys sure this isn’t the guy that sets fire to his BMWs when something goes wrong? Let’s convince him to part it out before he destroys it this time

I didn't even know it wasnt supposed to be like that until I saw this thread. My glovebox, and other areas in the car were also stitched red, except for upper top right dash IIRC

Edit
Misread initial post, nvm. Thought it said from red interior, disregarded the light part lol.

It would bug me and I would have it replaced. One concern would be when you go to sell it since that could be a turn-off to a potential buyer.

When I picked up the car I thought it was the reflection from the red interior lighting but upon further inspection it's actually red. If this indeed isn't usual then I think it's kinda cool and makes my car a little unique. I just hope there isn't some poor soul out there who ordered individual contrast stitching and got white stitching instead for this piece
Apologies for the necro thread bump but I think I found the car that's missing its Sakhir knee pad
