I just received my 2018 M3 allocation & production number

Just received an email from my dealer with my build specs as well the production number and that sweet 111 order status - accepted.

Pricing is still blocked. It also says Ind. Block Date of 8/10/17...is that the last day I can make changes to the order? Guess that also means it won't be one of the early July builds either, I suppose? Any chance the build date could get pushed up?

Congrats. What's your build if you don't mind share?

Not locked in but pretty sure will be going with:

Azurite Black Metallic on Sakhir Orange Extended
ZCP with silver wheels
Executive Package (which now pulls in adaptive lighting + PDC)
DCT

Yep, PDC is park distance control.

Based on M4 pricing, executive package is now $2100 but forces you to get PDC which comes out to $2850. If you want extended leather (which the old executive package had) , it's another $950.

I tried to build a 2018 M4 online, and found the MSRP on a 2018 M4 with same options is somewhat less than my 2016 M3.

Nice looking build.....

Btw, unless something changed recently with BMW's Ind process, it will lock once accepted by BMW and you'll be stuck with whatever was on the build sheet at that time. No changes allowed.

I had a similar issue last year, which forced me to reorder a std color to get my options.

Cheers,

Yup, it's pretty crazy MY18s can come in a couple grand cheaper than a same equipped 17/16/15. Plus you now get all the added changes and updates that came with the previous years. Best time to buy!

Azurite Black is not a "real" individual color. He will be fine.

So does it not add any additional time to the build, either?

Negative... I picked TZB and it was locked once accepted by BMW.

Yes, it will add time to your build. It is still pulling the car off the production line.

I'm wondering if I'm missing something, or my dealer isn't telling me something.

I supposedly have an allocation, and was given a production number... and I know that i would have limited info available to me yet since so much wasn't released yet. But, when I put the production number my dealer gave me into the myBMW account page it doesn't find anything. Is this normal at this time?

Have you ever been on a BMW factory tour? They don't pull cars off the production line. They can paint a car white, followed by black, followed by blue, and then followed again by white. They don't paint them by batches, or individually. It's just a matter of programming the car for a particular paint code as it goes through the paint booth.

Ask your CA for a copy of the Vehicle Inquiry Report (VIR). This is the production order for your car and the color, interior, trim, packages, and options should be exactly what you ordered. Sometime though, a dealer with have an allocation and a production number for a car that's scheduled for production and already in the pipeline and will change the order to match your specifications before it actually goes into production. There's always an VIR for a car that has a production number.

Same issue with me, will not be available on the website until the f80 ordering stuff is unblocked fully

Yea that is normal. The system online has a huge delay.

Call BMW genius they should be able to tell you more info.
