BMS Stage 1 feedback on stock M3/M4 ZCP anyone?
Has anyone installed the BMS Stage 1 tune on a stock m3/m4? I still have 2.5 years left on the warranty and probably won't be installing any aftermarket mods until the end of my warranty period. However, I just purchased the BMS stage 1 tune as I've read, stage 1 is very safe and it's easy to plug and unplug when going into the dealership. My question to those who've installed it on their stock ZCP vehicle, if they saw any gains and if there were any flaws? Thank you.

Nice to see another member from PDX on here. I lived in Portland for about 10 years and moved to Tampa Bay, Florida about 4 months ago.
I would suggest doing a search for JB4 & ZCP. Came across this thread when I was looking for into. It may help you in your process. BMS Stage 1 should be pretty equivalent to JB4 Map 1. http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...&highlight=jb4

I do not have the BMS Stage 1, but a friend does and he said it was noticeable (without any empirical data) and did not have any issues with the tune with it in for a year.

I enjoyed the extra power bump for a simple plug and play tune.

No doubt! I recall the conversation and recognize your forum handle. Living in Tampa now, but that doesn't mean I won't be back in Portland. I'll let you know if/when I'll be back so we can make that shoot happen.

I ran the BMS Stage one to hold me over until I got my BM3 and a custom tune but it did its job. Nothing spectacular, added a nice little bump in the mid range.

I run it on my car as well, way more power, but it seems to have a little lag time which is a little noticeable at first. I went into the dealership the other week for a service and left it installed, no complaints from dealership or they didn't even notice it hahahaha... def worth the buy tho!

i wouldnt risk leaving it in for dealer visits.
you just have to be good at launching the car, it does increase wheel spin if you just mash the pedal

Update from my initial post...
Quotes are from conversation with BMS customer service -"stage 1 wont work right on the competition package, you need jb4" -"usually there is hesitation, rough idle with stage 1 on the competition car" -"but if you are happy with the way your car feels you can keep it" ...To my understanding the stage 1 does work but it really is not the best choice on competition cars Last edited by JesusLovesU; 06-08-2018 at 02:29 PM.. Clearly BS and just a way to make more money. My como package runs perfect with it and faster than my buddy’s regular m3 with the stage one by a car length. On the 1/4 mile. |

I’m still under warranty so only the stage 1. Purchased from a member here for about 125$. You feel the extra hp, especially if rolling from 60.

I did the same with my 2018 M3 zcp. I already had the stage one on my last M4, so I plugged it up to the new M3 Comp, and it feels good. I think it's just a 4 pound increase in boost across the range from stock, so it will only enhance, but also exaggerate, the stock zcp power curve. My buddy has a stage 2 bm3 with downpipes, and he walks away from my zcp pretty easily. I still haven't taken this new zcp car to the drag strip, so I can't compare to the non zcp M4 vs the zcp M3 with the same mods in terms of 1/4 mike times yet.
