Some might be surprised to know that of the large number
of vehicles we flash each month, we still have less than a
half dozen customers in total (between ALL F-series models)
who have opted for their money back!

Of that 1/2 dozen, one has actually returned to HEX Tuning
after trying another brand, while another customer actually
took advantage of the return policy TWICE.

We purposely made it a very liberal policy to instill confidence
by standing behind our product, well before there was any real
competition in the market place!

I'm that guy! VF Return Policy is lit. No issues there. But the first time I returned it, the 30 day money back didn't exist early last year right (I don't recall it being advertised, so I was surprised and extremely satisfied that you took it back, very generous)?

For those of us who got the tune prior to the home flashing, do we get a cable and flash unit? Should I have gotten one at the time of the flash (I may have).

Sorry if this has been covered.

Even when the ECU's needed to be removed for "unlocking", the
HEX Flash Cable was still used for the flashing process via OBDII.

If you PM me the name of your shop, and your VIN, I can check
on my end for your HEX Flash Serial number.

I just ordered my remote tune with cable!!!! Can't wait. I have the Active8 piggy back now, which will obviously be coming off. Excited to see the differences is power, drivability and of course, options and sound!!!

Stay tuned, more to come.

Loving the Hex tune and GTS features. No more annoying start up in the morning. The GTS start up seqnuence is crucial.

I returned my cable and took off your trash tune off my car like agreed on, and then my bank lets me know you turned down the dispute to refund me after countless calls?

This needs to be taken care of and I need my money back NOW

If they wouldn't have paid the mods under the table to remove the review I did it would be easier to explain

The car was jerky from N to 1 and from 1 to 2, the car spluttered on WOT and the power was uneven, they kept talking about adaptation periods and after 900 miles it was the same as day one

The car drove like crap and even Matt Farrah noticed it on a Drive video he did when he drove a M4 with a VF tune

Plenty of people have had issues with it, you can even see how jerky it is on their video that shows off their burbles. It made me hate the car and I went with another tuner and all of those issues disappeared as soon as drove off my driveway

this has been a PAIN IN THE ASS and I want my thousand dollars back... It has been months battling these morons

He loved the HEX Tune! (Purchased January 2nd 2018)

He initially had throttle sensitivity issues that took longer
than average to adapt out, but was eventually OEM smooth
at around 800 miles.

We received multiple positive messages from the customer
(including those below) by e-mail, and posts here
on bimmerpost;

Pulls hard and no issues!

(February 9th 2018)
Previous cars only took 10 miles or so to get all adjusted but this one took a good 800 miles to where the car fully adjusted .

(February 11th 2018)

I can totally tell it's adjusted and the sensitivity has gone down because before the car was almost undriveable and it was really getting under my skin. My wife drives it here and there and she also said that the car is finally back to normal. Just a very abnormal time period.

We did discuss a return early on - within the 30-day money back
period - and he decided to KEEP the software.

At some point after that he seems to have been offered a MUCH
lower price
for an "OEM Like" tune from another tuner.

He took that deal and wrote over our software, then apparently
sent his cable back to us after the 30-day period.

As we stated above, all of this seems to have been a one-sided
decision with no communication with our sales department in
order to obtain an RMA number, and we have no confirmation
that the cable was ever sent to us or received by our shipping
department.

We are more than flexible with our return policy as long as there
is constant communication, even AFTER the 30-Day period, when
circumstances warrant it.

From within this thread alone, there are at least (5) methods of
communication that we can be reached at during office hours,
including our Sales Manager's cell phone number at the bottom
of the e-mails exchanged in January.

The only issue we see here is a customer who feels he found a
better deal elsewhere, and unfortunately did not follow up in a
timely manner, after the return process was explained and the
money back guarantee was offered.

The proper communication channels are still wide open, and we
are not opposed to trying to find some sort of compromise towards
an amicable resolution, if that is even a possibility at this point.

You should redact his last name too in the email screen shot (not just his email address). Just sayin'.

Whether you keep the product and remain a HEX Tuning
customer because the product delivered exactly as promissed
(which is the case nearly 100% of the time!), or whether you
would like to return it and receive your money back for any
reason at all, this philosophy is meant to create a positive
outcome either way!

That being said, it can't be an open ended policy without
a defined process in place. Finding a lower priced option
from a re-seller, and demanding a refund 10 weeks later
with no formal communication (while having not actually
returned the product
) unfortunately doesn't fall into the
"within reason" category.

And now onto a more positive topic...

Thanks for the review rblynn78
Glad you're enjoying the software!

(this review falls into the "nearly 100% satisfaction" category.)

Customer service:
- I got my cable and didn't realize that it normally took 24 hours once you send your file to VFE and then they send you back the tuned file. I emailed VFE asking if there was anyway to get it back sooner as I already had an apt on my indy the next morning to remove the piggy back and borrow their battery charger. Totally not a VF issue, my issue. They were AWESOME!!!! They responded to me in 15 minutes and I got the file back 24 minutes later, not hours, minutes. Totally helped me out and was really appreciated.

Tune:
- So I drove my car to the shop with the Active8 on. Removed it, tuned the car and then drove it again, so very good comparison. BTW - I was SUPER NERVOUS to install this tune, hadn't done it before. It was incredibly easy and the directions were spot on. For anyone nervous to do this, don't be, it is so easy. The only thing I will mention that I didn't know is that as the tune erases and rewrites every single sensor and warning on your car goes off. It freaked me out at first but then I realized it was just the coding, but good to know ahead of time. Ok, the tune. I can definitely say this thing is FUCKING BONKERS!!! Amazing. IMO, this tune has significantly more power and torque than the Active8 and the delivery of the power is amazingly smooth. I really liked the Active8, but, I didn't think the delivery of power was really smooth and I did get misfires at higher rpms. Misfires are gone with the Hex Stage 1, delivery is smoother and holy crap is this thing fast. Wow, I am so impressed. 2nd gear and then pulling through 3rd makes everyone laugh that it is your car, there is no way you don't smile and giggle, its just insane.

Sound:
So I have a stock exhaust, with a valve controller (always open) and the AA Midpipe (which is awesome BTW). My car is pretty loud and I think sounds actually really good. First thing I noticed, besides the burbles (get to those) was a much more distinctive pop when shifting between gears. Way nicer, previously I had several shifts that the sounds was very fart cansih, gone now, nice quick pop when shifting especially under load. The burbles...... OMG the BURBLES. I was laughing the entire ride home. They are awesome and the volume level of the burbles in Sport Plus is borderline obnoxious in my car, but in such a good way. Every lift of the throttle I just started laughing. I have a convertible so with the top down it is really loud, but again, in a good way. Top up, pretty normal.

So, super impressed all around. Service was great, install was super easy and the result of the tune is just plain awesome. This thing is SO FAST now its crazy and all the sounds I wanted are there. I sat and waited to get this tune for a while, wish I had done it sooner!!!

I returned twice, and both times there was no push back or BS from VF...very simple and easy. Now that I think about it, the first time I might've returned after 30 days then again...I don't think a 30 day return policy was advertised this was during the bench unlock days.

Good communication, being nice, and not going public goes a long way too!

Just wanted to add, I found my car to be a little more "jerky" off the line with my piggyback, I figured it was normal due to a considerable increase in power and torque. When I switched to Hex Tune is seemed the same if not better, certainly not worse. So, my point is, I think you need to expect some difference in the off the line pedal feel when you are increasing a cars performance as much as these tunes do. I adapted my foot, works great for me. I do find it funny people moan about the car being so much more responsive and "jerky" when they tune it. I usually chalk that up to user error personally.

It's not about the money but the ethic, they have a broken product and I missed the 30 day return date regardless of them being notified I took my tune off before the 30 day mark and it's all logged

No worries, lesson learned and I will make sure anyone I come across at meets or forums to let them know clearly to avoid this company at all costs. The $1000 lost on this garbage is more than worth it for how the car feels now so I'm still content

Anyone near the NC area with VF come test drive my car and you'll see the difference

Gary is a joke, this company is a joke. I've had over 5 people message me thanking me for my review on here and on FB private groups that they have avoided VF and gone with other companies so that's over $4000 lost there and I will continue to deter money from their pockets.

So... no actual rebuttal to your email then?

What you wrote is damning enough against yourself, so that makes sense.

If you want to bash any company whatsoever... and people don't ask you to explain what you put down in writing... well, that's more absurd then anything.

EDIT:

I've referred 6 people that bought and love their tune. 3 others chose to go with another company for their cars, because their setups were a bit different.

4 on the F8x & 2 on the F87.
