CS bonnet: Measured IAT reduction?

Hey guys,

Does anyone have any figures concerning IAT reduction due to the CS bonnet with its vent?

Thanks in advance.

I don’t believe the point of the vent was to lower IAT. It’s to vent the high dynamic pressure that builds up under the hood that ultimately results in lift especially at high velocity. The vent lets what would become stagnated air flow out through the front of the hood.

After reading that, it makes perfect sense. But most people buy them just for that more aggressive look.

Like M3SQRD says, the purpose is to ventilate air and reduce lift at the front end and reduce weight, but that is only for the genuine carbon hoods, they reduce weight with 33%, fom 19,8 pounds to 13,2.

I was toying with the idea of getting a new one. Already painted San Marino blue.

Not sure if it will match the wings of my car perfectly though!

But at 305km/h it might help the front end from straying!

Yes, that is called lift. A front splitter helps mitigate lift.

I got it.
When I lost my carbon front splitter in Paris last month.

The front end wasn’t as sure when hitting 280km/h going back to Stuttgart

I looked into ordering one of the CF hoods in 2017 but my f82 is individual Moonstone Metallic and I was afraid they couldn’t match the hood to the front body panels. I didn’t want any blending done. However, getting the exact amount of gold hue in the various shades of gray is challenging. I also didn’t want to pay repeatedly to repaint the CF hood until it matched perfectly.

Even the GTS extended front splitter only makes 68 lbf of downforce at 186 mph. Its actual magnitude is higher if you compared it to the lift force of the base and Comp models at 186 mph. Front splitters need to be long, wide and low to the ground to generate meaningful downforce.

Just curious why you didn't have them do spray outs, to match the color perfectly?

Have you seen what moonstone looks like in different lighting?

Didn’t think about the difficulty of having the car repainted if something happened until after taking delivery. It has even more colors than what those three pics show so it’s difficult to get the right mixture for all of the various colors/shades as the lighting changes. I absolutely love the Moonstone Metallic with Opal White interior. On most days, as you walk to the car it looks like you have a different colored car

My standard bonnet is ruined by stone chips so it got me looking at getting a low mileage new bonnet.

Quite a few in San Marino for circa €500

This CS one is €3500

That’s a great price. Even if you had to repaint to get the CF hood to match you’d only be ~50% of the cost of a new CF hood.

It’s the missing piece of the puzzle for me, but I’ll only go for an OEM one. I get the idea of a replica but the fit is rarely perfect and it’s a bit like wearing a fake Rolex.
