Philly Auto Show M3/M4 Review with Pics.
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com Be sure to check out both set of Pics by myself and HD pics a few posts later in the thread by RPIM5..thanks!!! which provide great detail. I'm including below my summary impressions of seeing this car for the first time. Since I had unrestricted early access to M3, I will focus on that model. Feel free to ask me anything. First yes these are Iphone pics but they are not half bad. I know others had better equipment so that is coming. Overall the M3 really impressed me. This car is so well executed and finished especially with Full leather. This Combo is stunning in Person. I really liked the black wheels on the M4 as the best option although the M3 had the silver Ferric Wheel. Starting from the Rear area, It was disappointing to see all the comfort features missing from the rear seat including lack of cupholders, armrest, and pass through. The rear headrests are fixed but for those of us with carseats for the kiddies I think it will be ok the way that the seat is angled to fit well. The trunk was very spacious and with the 60/40 seats down there is a lot of room to haul stuff and would easily fit my road bike without taking both wheels off. The seats fold nearly flat with just a slight rise. The front passenger cabin is simply the finest of interiors ever done in an M3 and as far I'm concerned gives up nothing to the the 5, 6, and 7 series with Full leather. The CF Trim finish looks great and of high quality. The seats were my favorite part for sure. As a husky 5-10 guy I found the fit perfect and very comfortable. I could go all day driving in them and the Leather was supple and soft to the touch. As far as the illuminated Logo in the seat it is not a glow in the dark. The Seat logo clearly lights up when you enter the car and does shut off once door is closed. The Door sills however do not light up which is also a downer since it really is a nice touch. Guess it will be part of a future model refresh with the Rear LED lights and ZCP. On the outside I found the rear of the M3 was notably much lower to the ground than the M4. Don't know why but seemed to be at least 3+ inches. Perhaps it's just a setting or the way the cars are when parked but will see. Logic tells me it's a suspension setting that lowers car to allow rear passengers easier access. The rear of the M3 does look more aggressive than the M4 but I like the M4 much more from the side profile. The car really does look big but don't doubt for a second that the M4 is a slouch in the aggressive department. I will still stay with it for sure. The M3 had the Sunroof which is Ok but the CF roof on the M4 is such a stunning detail. It really makes the car standout and in the Alpine white after adding the full exterior CF treatment this car will look incredible on the streets. As you will see from the Car panel it does say the Nav screen is 10.2 inches. To clarify the confusion, when you measure the entire screen is 10.2 inches. However just like all TVs the actual screen area is smaller and about 8.5 inches of actual usable screen. It does look great though. Lastly I got to see MW again and have 100% rules out the color. It just looked dull and muted to me even under show lights. AW is the way to go for me. Anyway I am doing this review from my iPhone so let me stop here. Just wanted to share with you guys my brief take on the show today. And photos by RPiM5 |

So are the black wheels really all black with the lights making the photo seem as they were two tone?

What are peoples view of the carbon fibre interior trim? I'm really tempted to change my M3 order to get it? I'd appreciate comments from anyone who has seen it. Thanks

It looks extremely cheap to me, I'm sorry. Not like how it looks like in the pictures. It's basically covered in shiny plastic. It's not like leather carbon fiber in the current M3 model which is much better. You know obviously to each his own, this is one of those things that you will never have a "right" answer, but the carbon fiber trim was probably the biggest disappointment for me.

Clarifications :
- Navigation screen is around 10.2" diagonally. It measures exactly as long as 2 iphones in length by 1.5 iphones in width which makes it sqrt(9.6 * 9.6 + 3.45 * 3.45) = 10.2. That being said, around the corners of the screen there is a good 0.5-1 inch large black bazel making the actual screen size a little smaller. - The M4 had 2x wheel space M3 did. I believe this was due to shipping blocks still being in place. |

The CF trim pieces are clear coated, like the roof, which gives it a glossy finish... |

In my opinion, that looks far more classy than this. This looks too much cadillac/mercedes, not the subtle, understated BMW work. It's way too flashy. Both my wife and my friend who were with me today actually thought the CF trim in the M3 was plastic. I am not joking. |

Hey it was good meeting you today dude.
Instead of starting a new thread, I'll just put all of the high-res pictures I took here on this thread instead. I took a few pictures that show which parts are leather and which parts on not leather on the "Full" Leather option on the M3/M4. As you can see, it's missing leather on the lower part of the doors and on lower parts of the center console. The dash and the tops of the doors look good though. Overall, I think it's a very sporty interior, but not a luxurious interior. Enjoy!

I understand what you're saying though - You prefer matte carbon fiber trim over high gloss |

CF trim
I have Carbon Leather (it's not called Carbon Fiber leather, since it has no CF in it) in my '08, and I like it very much. However, I like this just as well, just more "techy" than luxury.
