Rattles galore (after 1200 mile service)

Was pretty impressed with the solid feel and lack of any rattles first 1100 Miles.
Took the car for the 1200 mike service.
Now I notice that all windows rattle. If I push against them they quiet down. If I crack them open, they are quiet. Very annoying.
Can’t prove that service did something to cause that, however, I started noticing the rattles after the service was performed.
I wonder if they lunricated seals to cause that?
Aside from taking it back in, not sure how to handle it myself.

I had the exact same problem. Took it to the dealer and a very knowledgeable tech told me that the car wash soaps that we use contain silicone and this is very detrimental to the door and window seals. Mine was creaking like crazy and coincidentally I noticed it got louder after a track day. Anyway that had nothing to do with it. They did something at the dealer to strip away the residue around the seals and when they gave it back to me presto not a sound.

Thank you for the inputs.
I wanted to convince myself that it has nothing to do with the last dealership visit, however, could have sworn that rattles did not exist prior to the 1200 mile service...

Try some Gummi Pfledge. You'll be squeak free for 3 entire days. At least that was my experience.

I thought they fixed the issue with the door squeaking against the trim, but maybe it's still an issue. Ask your dealer to apply the 3M tape to the shadow line trim around the doors, and also look at the lock pins maybe rattling. I had both fixed on both of my F3x cars under warranty.

I'm skeptical that it will affect the seals after one wash.

Only junior ranks can get away with this behaviour.

Well a private with a reputation score of 76 when addressing a Major General with a -26 reputation score makes the Major General a basic training drop out who snatched the stars from a supply closet when he was given the boot.

Kind of irrelevant in this case. OP had a legitimate question, no?

I have the same issue on my '18. The Teflon tape didn't help. Gummi helped a little but you really need to get the Gummi underneath the window seal where it contacts the paint as well. It's the rubbing of the window seal rubber against the paint that's making the sound. At some point I'm going to try to convince the dealer to replace all the window seals.

The tape method is recommended by BMW for alu trim only. Painted trim means replacing the rubbers. Didn’t help in my case either.
They did it for me on my shadowline trim under warranty and the problem went away. Just throwing it out there.

You would be surprised. Took my 340i to a waterless wash and it came back sounding like the oldest bed in a $10 whore house.

Vaseline works wonders and is extremely cost effective. I noticed squeeking in my cabin when I purchased my car. I vaselined it and the noise immediately went away and hasn't been back since for the past 6,000 miles.

Also applying it to the correct spot is important: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1017134

+1

I cleaned all the rubber seals really well around the windows and doors to remove the sounds. Residue just accumulates over time I guess.

"no wash" also needs to be on your work order!

"Over time"? This is a month old car.
I turned in a 3yo F30 that was completely quiet.
