Nothing wrong with staying relative, ie current, as time marches on. I do it with my iPhone and finally my friends stopped give me sh*t about it.

I think there are some designs that are more "timeless" if you will, than others. For example, the E46 M3 is still beautiful and IMO looks less dated than the E92. For me the design of the F82 M4 is similar to the E46.... I think it will continue to look good for years to come.

Still rocking a 4S here. Also still daily drive a 16-year-old car; maybe that's related.

Does the E46 look dated? Sure. Design-wise does it still look amazing? It does in my opinion. So time will tell for F8X. I think F80 will look less dated than the F82 over time but hey I'm biased and ordered and F80!

The F8X took some time to grow on me for sure. Although, I will always love the E9X M!

Although I like the E92 coupe and I still think it looks good, the E90 four door is hideous, there is something wrong with that rear, looks funky. This is the main reason I passed up on the E90 four door, just not a good looking car IMO.

I sure as hell hope so. I wouldn't want to get the new G8X if it wasn't an step forward from the F8X. That being said, the F8X will be promoted to "classic" status imho. Each generation has a very unique look and they all look great in their own way.

Yeah, I guess with time it’s going to be a subjective matter. But I wouldn’t assume all next gens are going to be better. After living through the late 70s and early 80s, performance cars and styling sure took a big bump for the most part.

Absolutely true in my view. My brother traded his E30 M3 on an E36 M3 when that model first came out. Two years ago we saw that same car, same VIN, in Roundel offered at more than he paid for it new. I think that result is more common than not, and will be especially so for the E46.

I think the F82 has the same problem as the E92. Looks way to long. F80/E90 keep a really tight rear with some perfect hips!

I don't think, there's something about M cars, they don't really look dated. When I see an E92 M3 on the road, I think the car has a lot of presence, and I wouldn't consider it dated. It's the whole Chiron/Veyron thing. Bugatti made Veyrons to be timeless, and in a way, the car is. But I recently watched a video where the Veyron owner was saying that he always considered his Veyron to be timeless, until he saw it side by side with the Chiron. Then he thought the car was dated...
