Any Melb dealers have an M Perf v2 wheel on display
Hi guys
Still on the fence over the new v2 m performance wheel I like the idea of the more contoured thicker hand grips but not sold on the alcantara - would prefer to grab a cheeky feel before laying down the 1k odd My dealer only has the v1 wheel on display in their BMW accessories section Has anyone in melb seen the v2 on display at their local dealer? |

Hi mate.
I installed the m performance wheel with LED display recently. It feels thinner to me. Much better feel compared to the stock wheel. The combination of thicker size, lack of alcantara and smooth leather on the stock made it difficult for me to grip - I've got small hands. The thickness is less of an issue with alcantara as it's much easier to grip. My alcantara wheel on my previous AMG looked excellent and held up well despite multiple track days and heavy use. I'm hopeful the BMW will hold up well from a cosmetic perspective. |

Not having a go at others choices -but why would you have the LED wheel when heads up will show a tacho, and the rev counter LEDs will flash on shift points?!

I love the way the wheel felt in my hands - it's just the right thickness. I like the available information in the info panel. The lights are not the reason I bought the wheel. The non LED wheel didn't feel the same in my hands.
In the end, the purchase need not make sense to anybody - but me. |

got a good price from my delivering dealer, so figured i'd give it a go
the swap wasn't too daunting, just a lot of modules and wiring looms to swap over given our lci onwards cars have all the options - pick tools, patience and taking pics along the way are your friend here not sure how i feel about the alcantara grips - i don't hate, but also don't love it. atm it's a change bw my other daily with a leather wheel the grips are definitely thicker, and the feel is definitely an improvement over stock, big win there but for me the bigger issue atm is the blue stripe at 12 o'clock, i find having that in my foreground vision really distracting as my eyes naturally keep trying to focus on it rather than on the road - i had a similar problem getting used to hud's thinking i might have it re-wrapped like my RS3, and swap the alcantara and leather combination around |

the cf base is a bit overkill - there is such a thing as too much carbon imo
if anything, maybe go the cf inlay that replaces the silver trim for a more subtle look |

Yeah i've seen that inlay from IND. It does look good.
I agree about there potentially being too much CF, which is why i'll probably stop at the steering wheel and shifter. I doubt i'll do the shifter surround or handbrake. The silver finish looks fine on the shifter surround and I think the combined CF and alcantara might look a bit off. I'm yet to see this in person though. Reading your comments above about the alcantara, I am concerned about how ratty it can look. I'm not sure how it wears on BMW, but on AMG cars, 3000km and it's rotten. Very flattened and nasty looking from the 10-15 cars i've looked at in the past year or two. Perhaps adding the CF to the 'stock' M3 wheel is the go.

Swissvax alcantara cleaner on a damp microfiber, rub lightly
Dab dry with a clean dry microfiber Then use an interior soft bristled brush to lift up the fibers and let it dry |
