IDrive 6 in the M3/M4 will not be touch screen. It literally is software.

Also, just to clarify my earlier post.

M3 will get iDrive 6 from June/July build, but he M4 gets it already, from March production.

It's really confusing for us Aussies when purchasing an M3 atm.

So the way I see it is basically current production M3's(for aussies) are LCI 2.0 with idrive 5, but June onwards it'll be LCI 2.0 but with idrive 6 instead. Does that sound correct?

Also, will current M3s still be classified as MY17, and June onwards MY18?

We don't do the MY18 thing like the US do for our 17 models.

You are right about 5/6 across March vs June builds.

From my reading today, it should be fine to upgrade 5 to 6 for non touch screen systems (M3/4).

This is called iDrive 6-lite.

5 and 7 series cars couldn't for example, as they have touch and gesture which require hardware.

This is simple referred to as iDrive 6.

I had no choice re iDrive at the time, but tbh didn't give a shit hahaha I was more (stressfully) concerned about getting Ceramic brakes which meant my dealer had to negotiate to swap their car with BMW Sydney. That's the trouble you get your self in when you jump on a purchase and don't want to build and wait, which one couldn't do with the anniversary car anyways cause they were all dealer specced cars in the same interior and exterior colours.

I am interested in the v6 "skin" software, maybe look into that, but the only option 60:40 or whatever split in v5 is great imo.

It's possible to upgrade 5 to 6 locally.

A 2.0 car deivered this week has been updated and I've seen the pics.

I'll let the person who did this jump in, but it's possible.
