Those coilovers retail at just under $3,000, and i would be willing to bet you could get at least $2,000 for them if you wanted to sell them used (just in case you didnt like them), pay someone $700-800 to install them and align it, and you are still up over $1000 in profit for doing nothing. Now if there was turbo upgrades, and tuning, or the parts were cheap, i would say stay away. In this case, you have nothing to lose. Buy that thing!
Thanks for the input, will the ride be more rough?

Found the car on auto trader. Benz dealer took it on trade in.

It will ride a bit rougher than stock, but those coilovers have rebound and compression adjustments on them, so you can turn both of those settings down to help out.

Ah. Didn't realize/notice that the camber plates were part of the KW V3 kit. Knowing that, I guess I'd be a little less wary.

If you know the history of the car and the mods are high quality, buying modded can be a SMOKING deal (especially if they are mods you want anyway).

There's always a risk with used, and I think history and seller matter quite a bit

Agreed though I would never buy a modded car sight unseen from a random dealer unless someone I trusted went over it very thoroughly first.

I agreed. I was saying I wouldn't buy a modded car in general due to the lack of the history of the car. IF the source of history provided is trusted and the mods is also high quality, I will highly consider it too.

Being said that, I just buy new to save the hassle. That's just me tho.

Could not agree more. Lucked out and found a car with exactly the mods I would've wanted to do myself. I'm guessing I saved at least 30% over the cost of what it would've been to buy the stock car and do the mods on my own...

You're right, maybe it's a KW Clubsport which is definitely more track focused than the V3. Of course i'd love that but it'll be pretty stiff and maybe not the right choice for the OP

Something tells me that the old owner took it to MB instead of BMW cause something was wrong with it. He also probably traded it in to a car dealership instead of selling it privately (where he would make more money) b/c he didn't want to deal with a private buyer complaining that the engine blew 1k miles later.

Possible but your reaching... some ppl have more money then time. He probably traded it in for his new benz because its more convienent to do that then spend time selling it to private. Also if he wanted a benz it obviously wouldn't be traded into a bmw dealership. I would say to get an understanding of the original owner and his/her perspective before claiming the engine could blow up on some KW V3... of WHICH IS an amazing suspension upgrade. I would totally buy for that price.... for a ZCP too. I mean comon the car is barely past break in.... this is a solid deal.

Coilovers can ride smoother than stock depending on how you set them up

Talked to the benz dealer some more today. There are no engine mods, no tune, no JB4. Owner is friends with the sales rep at the benz dealer and apparently is constantly changing vehicles (every couple years). He traded the M4 for a 2017 C63s Coupe.

I think I am going to fly out and test drive the car, if all is good I will drive it home to Mi! With stock parts worst case i'll have the original suspension put back on the car.

thanks for the advise all

I don't mod myself and wouldn't buy modded car. Not necessarily because parts are different but because who knows who and how installed them. I do my own maintenance and repairs and every time I had mechanic do something- something was wrong. On those cars all suspension hardware is not supposed to be reused. Do you think it happened? And they ordered and replaced those 50 bolts?

Heck, after seeing what people do to those cars I won't buy used M especially when prices do close

I would run it through BMW dealership and do computer trst at least. If JB4 was removed they can still detect and flag it

Also, another big reason people trade in vehicles, especially ones with decent value, is for the sales tax savings. In many states you only pay sales tax on the difference between your trade-in and the new car.

That's not a bad deal, Suspension mods can be reversed if you really wanted to and like others have said you could sell the V3's if you didn't like them. I don't have any issues buying a car with suspension mods unless the person didn't use quality parts.

Can't make out the license plate frame from the photo but call the dealership and see if it was serviced there. Or call the other local BMW dealers. If everything checks out you're good. Nice ride!

This. Do not buy unless you can verify through BMW. You don't want to find out a year from now your engine warranty doesn't exist. Also from my experience I've yet to hear a bad story about a used car from a dealer. Having said that if it's only light suspension mods and nothing else you should totally go for it. With only 2200 miles not a lot can go wrong.

If still under warranty and you know it is, you can't really go wrong...its a 2016 so its got all the warranty stuff covered, 2017 and on bmw got a little jewish and made you add some ultimate pkg for certain maintenance. But as everyone else says so low miles and sellable parts go get it before someone else does.

When I traded in my old M4 for the new one, they barely checked anything lol. Looked inside, outside, underhood, turned it on and done! Always do a PPI with dealership if possible, if only it was at bmw the inspection might be cheaper or free ! Good luck, depending on your previous car you will love the new one comp pkg or not!!
