So, my second mid-cycle oil change is coming up. I did the first the traditional way (drain plug). I recently bought a mityvac oil extractor to do my wife's car, the e46 and motorcycle....so thought I'd give it a shot on the F80.

Just curious if anyone here has used a bleeder/extractor for their DIY oil changes.

If so, where are you extracting from? Filter hole?

Appreciate any feedback!

I think you need a dipstick to use those.

Probably right as you need to get to the bottom of the sump. Just curious if anyone in here knew of a way. All in all the F80 is an easy oil change as-is via the plug.

For the hell of it I've always wondered if you can reach the bottom of the sump by snaking the tube via the oil filter housing.

I would be careful. I've heard stories where the hose gets stuck and broke off. If that happens you'll basically have to remove the oil pan.

I rather put the car on a lift and drain the oil from the bottom.

BMWs are easy to drain, unlike some MB cars that have hoses, etc in the way of the drain.

just use gravity...
