Dang CHMURA-- waiting till June '16 for your M2?? That's a long way man. Good on'ya. And good luck!

Curious-- hopefully someone is still subscribed to this thread who installed the MPE..

Are you pleased with it? I'm wondering if anyone on here has the Dinan system instead and what their thoughts are. Considering the Dinan Stage II and exhaust system..

Thanks in advance!

MPE

I've had mine about three weeks now with carbon fiber tips. Looks good and matches carbon fiber all over on my car. However, dealer had to replace my carbon fiber tips due to rattle on the tips and buzzing because of way the carbon fiber sleeve is attached. Few days gone by, the buzzing and rattle came back. Now I'm thinking to replace with titanium tips. At least there's no floating carbon fiber around the tips to make rattle and buzzing because of the bolts are either broken or loose.

Unfortunately with MPE it is necessary. Fortunately only with MPE. Every other setup I have heard of is bolt on.

Does MPE require a software upgrade? Or is it just a plug & play no software update required? Thanks.

Also had the buzzing noise with the MPE (titanium tips), ... at first I though a heat shield was buzzing or something, it annoyed me for a month whilst I was looking around what could cause that noise. Eventually found out that by sliding the tips inwards by an inch (not only looked better, imho), it also resolved that buzzing noise. I'm no DIY guy, but this was very easy... felt satisfying to actually fix something instead of breaking things as per usual.

Found out that the thread holding the cf tip gets breaks and rattle. So best solution was to go with titanium tips.

I was convinced the CF and Ti tips have the same mounting design? Are you saying they are not?

Not according to the parts department. They're saying the Cf tips are made somewhere else and thread is not strong enough to handle the vibration and it snaps and makes rattle.

Very interesting. I have CF. The set crews thread breaks, due to its poor design (which I believe ironically was intended to prevent them from loosening). I have replaced the screws with normal ones, but the vibration/rattle still persists in all of the tips.
I am now so pissed, i have uninstalled all tips and drive without them, which looks ok btw.

Oh no.
Get that thing replaced via BMW parts. BMW parts replaced mine with titanium because of that issue.

Massively recommend this exhaust, if only for the silly grin that it induces when riding through tunnels....

I have sent my SA videos and I have given them the car for several days to try colds strarts etc. They "cant hear anything unusual"

Now that the issue has become unbearable I am out of my 2 years warranty period.

Can anyone post internal pics of a Ti tip? I wonder how different the mounting design is from a CF tip.

All I can say the differences between the cf and ti tips are that ti tips does not float type. Meaning, there's no spacing between how cf tips are floating on top of metal tip. It's one piece on ti.

As far as I know, the CF tips and Ti tips are basically exactly the same. The only difference is that the CF tips have a CF sleeve fixed over the standard Ti tips.

That is exactly what I thought.

Does anyone know if the exhaust tips from MPE also fit on stock ZCP Exhausts? So far I found out that stock tips have 63mm(2,5") of inner diameter and outer diameter of 73mm, while the ti Tips have 80mm and cf 93mm. I wanna get the cf tips if they would fit, because the plan is to get a MPE in the future.

thanks for help
