Always benefits from software updates.
If you decline a ECU update you are introducing a concern with your dealer. They will make a note in your file that you declined.
Regardless what anyone says here..it is not a good idea to decline unless you have a hook up and will not make notes in your records.
It will be brought up as a topic matter in the event you actually have a drivability problem later and you revert your car back to stock etc... there could be endless scenario's

Just checked out an F10 M5 that received Bootmod tune today, tamper codes present in both ECU's.
I thought this tamper code stuff was supposed to be not present in the ECU ?
Is it something that has to be requested ?

S63tu is a little different tamper code wise. S55/N55/N20 are all fully sorted but the V8 dual DMEs are a little different tamper code removal wise. Not sure what M5 this is and we don't have a support ticket for it but definitely let them know to reach out to us and we'll be on it right away. Tamper code if there on the V8s will be either on both DMEs, or neither, as the process to remove it is the same.

It's someone I met while checking out some cars at my local mechanic shop.
The owner didn't seem to care much but I was curious since he mentioned he received the Bootmod flash.
Yes, present in both ECU's

If you don't mind me asking, how are you able to change the GTS burbles, Is this is stage 1 or stage 2, what supporting mods do you have? I'm curious because my Stage 1 Burble definitely doesn't sound like that lol. I wish it did. It also doesn't burble above 50 miles an hour..lol but I digress. But I'll be shooting you a PM or email proTUNING Freaks to see what the whole thing is.

Burble isn't end user 'adjustable' yet. We have two versions in the OTS available, aggressive and GTS style.

As for 50mph cut off, you're 99.4% correct

There's a speed limit for when to cut out the 'sound tuning' as Germans like to call it and its set at 80km/hr in the map (tuning is all in metric units), works out to 49.7mph We've tried higher speeds as well but in most cases you won't hear it due to wind/road noise.

Let's take it further in this thread if need be:

I have one question...

Actually I have the DME locked, and have for my M4 F82 tuned map. Then we want to try the Bootmod3 in my car, but we want to save the actual map, after save we will try another maps, stage 1 or stage 2 or similars, but first we want to save the actual tuned map, it is posible? You have any tutorial for see the steps for make this.

Thanks a lot.

201101 DME: Protection against tampering: Program or data manipulation detected

Some cars we had in our testing would never set this code while some others would. We now have the ability to remove this code while bm3 tuning is on the car.

Note that a DME software update done at the dealership will have this code return though and you might still get flagged for warranty so take that into account.
You guys should incorporate this little disclaimer everywhere including your official bootmod3 thread for support/announcements.

Will there be a workaround in the future for this specific code? It would be essential to alert potential future customers to this present issue.

Is this code showing up after the DME is unlocked by Flash or will it return after you lock the DME back to the stock tune?

PTF states it can return when the dealer updates. Again, does it return once the DME is locked back to stock and the dealer updates the car?

The code shouldn’t be there and if it shows up they can remove it. I know this was automated before so maybe just a one off issue they need to know about. If you go back to stock and lock DME again it goes away no matter what as you’re flashing back to actual stock with DME locked back up.
