New software fixed issues with older cars

Interesting to read this for the pre-LCI M3's.
Although, would I be correct in saying that LCI's and CP's have changed dampers too?

LCI gets CP rear dampers IIRC, the CP gets dampers/springs (front and rear) roll bars, bushings and software changes for the diff and TC IIRC.

Interestingly, a guy on cutters has had both CP and non-CP exhausts in pieces and said the hardware is exactly the same. Just the tips different.
So sounds like only a software change is needed to get the CP exhaust sound. Pretty much how he describes in that thread.

I read that on M3cutters. It was Paul the exhaust mod guy.

My exhaust has lots of cracks and blares coming off and off the throttle, it appears that the LCI cars make more noise than the earlier ones.

Does anyone know if BMW will do the CP map and keep us in warranty on late 2015 / 2016 non CP cars?

I have my second service scheduled in May, I am going to ask the dealer if they will install the LCI software as I have a 15MY. I know they are going to say no because the Dutch are so freakin' cheap, anything extra that you don't pay for is always no.

Has anyone else had this new software installed and if so, have you noticed any changes in the way the car performs?

Thanks

I agree. I have a June 2014 F80 that had a problem with exhaust (boken flaps). BMW changed the entire exhaust in Mars 2015 and the car sounds different and louder.

There are quite a few posts on m3cutters about this. I think all have reported quite significant improvements in many areas so worth doing (handling, traction etc..). Although you may have to pay the dealer to do this as I think they need to keep the car in overnight for the updates to go down to the car and many modules need updating. They say its worth paying for though.

Now that is interesting about the exhaust. Would be interested to know if they updated the software while replacing the exhaust.

I have to say that this thread has been a bit of a revelation, My Car is a june 15 plate and has all of the symptoms these guys were talking about in the thread.

I have stated that I am not overly keen on my car for multiple reasons but this software update could potentially deal with a few of them. I will be off to Sytner later, thank you very much
