exhaust valve controller recommendations

so I'm debating between the Macht Schnell exhaust valve controller or the vsc-2 controller. the Macht Schnell is crazy expensive for an exhaust valve controller..... but it does have other features. the vsc-2 controller is a lot cheaper though. any suggestions from people that have either of these?

Have you looked at the BMS CanFlap Module?

I am not that familiar with the Macht Schnell one but the BMS one does a lot more then valve control and it is being updated regularly with new features. (Firmware is upload able with the optional USB cable)

I should also mention the BMS CANflap module is a true plug and play with no wire splicing or taps needed which leave tell-tale marks on
the OEM wires. It goes in and out in seconds. I think its the only module that includes an in dash boost gauge which is pretty cool. Here
is the current feature list:

Quote:
Exhaust Valve Mode:

Toggle between flap open, flap closed, and OEM operation, by pressing
the BC button for 2 seconds. The left blinker will flash for valve
open, right blinker for valve closed, and both blinkers for OEM
operation. The valve setting is persistent and will remain in effect
until you change it. Note if you hold the BC button down too long you
will enter the menu system below.

Menu System:

To enter the menu system press and hold the BC button until both
arrows flash and the tach drops to "ready". Press and quickly release
the BC button to toggle between different tach selections or menus. As
you toggle through the menu selections documented in the list below
your blinkers will indicate left for enabled, right for disabled, or
both for undefined/unused menu. If you toggle past the last menu it
will wrap back around to menu 0. To change a menu selection press and
hold the BC button while you're focused on that menu. This will
trigger the system to switch the blinker position and exit menu mode.
Note holding the BC will change the status of a menu on all menus
except for menu 0 and undefined menus where both blinkers are on. So
if you wish to exit without changing anything, for example if you
entered the menu system accidentally, simply press and hold the BC
button on menu 0 and you'll exit out.

0: Undefined/Unused.
1: Active Sound MUTE - Flap Open*
2: Active Sound MUTE - Flap Closed*
3: Boost gauge on fuel, scaling 0-20psi, active > 5psi
4: OBDII Diagnostic Code Delete
5: LED HALO Max Brightness at Night

* Active Sound MUTE is only active in flap open (left arrow) or flap
closed (right arrow) mode. In OEM operation Active Sound is NOT muted.
If there is demand we will add this is a 3rd option in the future.

The Macht Schnell module is a much more feature-rich unit than canflap, there is an ongoing thread with a bunch of users here: http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...&postcount=304. The video below will give a brief overview the options:

The Macht Schnell EVC module is also upgradable via the integrated USB port when new features are released, as well as can be used for remote sessions if troubleshooting is needed, some exhaust manufactures will be soon including them with systems.

The 1-touch Comfort opening/closing is a very nice feature that no other module has. It's a big punch packed in a tiny module - you really do get what you pay for.

I would get the CanFlap because you're saving $200 and the opening/closing door feature you can get it done for $30-$40 with coding and still save yourself another $160. But it's your money at the end of the day

I've got the Macht Schnell EVC, and don't have experience with the others. MS works great. I highly recommend it. I esp love that I can run with exhaust valves open when I want, and close with the BC stalk button when I need it a bit quieter at highway speeds if on the phone over BT. It's also super easy to do back to back comparisons on ASD on/off, to come to your own conclusion if you like ASD or not!

VSC-2 would be our choice.

We don't tie into your OBD2 port and you can program your homelink with our controller. Those two features alone are worth it. Not to mention it is significantly less expensive that the others.

If you can use a ratchet, you can install the VSC2. Easy.

Great choice. Can't beat OEM integration.

Are you looking for valve control only? if so just get the cheapest one.

I have both the BMS and the MS. They are both good. Features are similar. I like the BMS because it runs off the port. Sort of fool proof/ easily interchangeable between vehicles.

I'm very happy vith my VSC-2! Easy install and it doesn't occupy the OBD2 port.
