Ah, but it does not change the fact that, according to BMW NA, a US spec M3 is heavier than a US spec 335i. And the M4 is only trivially lighter than the 435i. Might deserve its own thread in fact, though I suspect it would be serious drama with lots of I-told-you-so's.
Like the E9X brochure saying the 359s were forged when they aren't. Man who does the QC for these guys?

Stripper build with metallic paint, extended leather, manual, and HK sound comes to $65,300. Not too shabby. Definitely disappointing about the listed curb weight though. While ~100 lbs is certainly something, what happened to the 3300 lb weight stated at Pebble Beach? I'm sad I actually believed that BS.

man, i made an m4 and it cost $90K. you're pushing m5 money at that price point. No wonder they say "m4 drivers have no friends."

interesting to note, when I built the F80 and tried to match it feature for feature versus my E90 M3, the difference came to a couple hundred dollars, well done BMW!

So my question is: Is the standard interior trim a carbon fiber like derivative OR do you have to choose between the anthracite or aluminum and get raked over having to order a true carbon fiber option?

If you happen to look at the interior prior to selecting the trim, it looks like a carbon fiber weave.

Thanks. I just happened to look at the pricing sheet and it is standard. I can't remove the aluminum either, and it is messing up my config!!!

the CF is standard, and IMO looks good in person

unfortunately there appear to be a bunch of bugs and mistaken information on this website already lol

such as the fact that apparently the m3 has a "v-6"

It seems we're all just beta testing their site at the moment. Hopefully they read this forum and update the incorrect info where needed.

This is no different than any other BMW model. You option out a 3-Series you can easily approach 5-Series money, but doesn't mean you actually want a 5-Series, different cars.

Assuming the option/package list is accurate, there's nothing you really want to have other than the adaptive suspension, everything is just bells/whistles easily getting one less than 70k before taxes. Not bad.

this

im adding adaptive suspension, HK audio, leather and the car is basically fully loaded

-HD based nav
-adaptive active suspension
-streaming BT audio
-upgraded sound
-leather
-CF trim
-CF roof
-heated seats

What else do you need? The car is 65750....no reason to jack it up to 90k unless you want to.

My test build is $97k after adding individual options. If you want a unique-ish car, you have to pay I guess.

Comparing apples to apples, an Audi S model is not on the same level as a true M model.

Better comparison is the M4 vs RS5, and the latter starts closer to 70k.

Optioned mine around 70-72 depending on M3/4. Still need to see them both. NO EXECUTIVE package, terrible they force you to get options you don't want just for back up sensors & CA

**Thought - Did anyone catch that announcement of all cars are required to have backup camera's by 2018? Wonder if BMW will have to make it a standard option and take it out of the EX package?
